Is it anxiety? Or could it be heart problems?

I'm a 23 year old female & Last year I was laying down on my couch when I felt a weird sensation in my left hand I became worried and then felt my heart race then slow down. Terrified that I was having a heart attack I soon began to feel an impending doom and became pale so my sister took me to the ER. They did an ekg n results were normal and they said it was prob. malnutrition or stress. I didn't feel myself so I went to 3 doctors and they all said it was stress or anxiety & that I prob. Had a panic attack. Fast fwd to today I keep having weird palpitations my heart races and I get weird feeling on my left arm. I'm really scared that I might have heart disease. Plz help me? Wat do u guys think it can be? I often do not feel myself I hate being scared all the time and I just want to have my life back. Should I visit another doctor?

Thank u I will. I'll make sure they do more heart exams in order to rule out anything bad & go from there. Hopefully this feeling goes away soon

Hi I've had the same problem earlier this year. Cut back on my stress levels & feel a bit better. Sounds like anxiety, which is what I suffer with. My palpitations have stpped. Had pain in the left arm too, chest pains, heart racing then slowing down. Perhaps some beta blockers may help? Has your doctor discussed anything like this?

Oh thank god I'm not the only one. I seriously feel like I'm going crazy because due to my age everyone thinks it's all in my head. Like I'm making up my symptoms. Unfortunately I don't have any health  insurance right now so I haven't been able to go to the doctor & my last ER visit cost me over $3000.

Im in the UK, so have to rely on the NHS..nightmare! I hear they are more efficient in the states!?

I had 22 dogs at home when my stress peaked so no more dog breeding for a couple of years for me. Dumped a manipulative boyfriend, that helped! Got a more permanent job now so that's a load off my mind. Less financial stress.

It's a case of trying to simplify your life & break things down into more manageble bite sized pieces. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself. I have a tendency to wind myself up, all part of GAD. i have mild to moderate depression too & now SAD...arghhh it all gets easier to manage with the passing of time. I need more therapy though I think.

Keep talking on here, that helps too. It's all normal & you aren't alone! Virtual hugs.

Beta blockers..hmm.. they slow down the racing heart somehow with little side effects. Was a long time ago when I had them so can't remember much. They definitely help though. Try wikipedia or there are some helpful articles on this website.

Yes at times. I just began therapy too so hopefully that helps. she also agrees with the doctors that my symptoms are related to anxiety. However, after my first session I began having my old palpitations but maybe it's because I rehatched old feelings. Thank you very much.i do believe that talking about it will help me too since I usually hold it all in inorder to avoid frightening my family. Hugs as well smile

Can you take beta blockers even if you don't have high blood pressure or heart problems?  I just have the weird heart  beat pounding in my ears.
