Is it chron's disease?

Hi all! I am new here and was hoping to get some help from everyone suffering from Crohn's. I have been suffering from chronic diarrhea (that are sometimes black and tarry) everyday 3-6 times a day for over 5 years now. Rarely, do I get solid stool (maybe once or twice a month). In addition to my chronic diarrhea, I also suffer from constant bloating, abdominal cramps that can be severe, rashes on legs and thighs, eye sensitivity/pain (especially towards light), night sweats, and recently I have been having joint pain in my fingers, wrist, and shoulders.

I recently had a colonoscopy done a week and half ago and mild inflammation/erosion was found in the small intestine, some inflammation found in the colon, and diverculosis in my colon. My GI accused me of taking too much NSAIDS which I NEVER DO EVER!! They took two biopsies and said the biopsies came back showing no inflammation. Is it possible that I have Crohn's disease even though the biopsy doesn't show any inflammation?

Thank you to all who read this and are taking the time to respond. I am eager to feel better and just want some answers.

Cheers!

Thanks,

Christine

I would say get the pill cam done. And fact you have some inflammation in colon is a red flag. Some docs drive me insane! Keep pushing!

Thanks Hollaka. I have Kaiser located in Sacramento, CA. I don't think a Pill cam is offered at our location or in the northern CA region. But I do hear that this is a great way to help find a diagnosis. How is a pill cam different than a colonoscopy and endoscopy?

And yes doctors drive me crazy! Thanks for your support!

Sorry for late reply, been pretty poorly so not online much. Pill cam is literally what it says, it’s a camera inside a pill that u just swallow like any normal pill & it takes pics all through your small bowl.

Hi, So sorry to hear you are suffering so much. I suffer from Ulcerative Colitis which is another form of this illness.  Firstly to suffer for 5 years with chronic diarrhea is terrible, secondly, with this illness you must keep pushing for answers !!!.  Everyone is so completely different and respond to different medicines differently.  My Brother suffers the same and his medication is totally different to mine.  For some unknown reason, be it not enough known about it or not enough investigation into the illness, this is why you must must keep pushing for answers and keep asking questions and if you are not happy with the service you are getting from your Doctor/Specialist, then change.  It is your illness and you deserve answers. !!  Good luck and I hope you get answers and respite from your symptons.
