is it genital herpes or something else IgG test equivocal?

on Friday night April 15th I had met up with a girl we had unprotected sex, 24hrs later Sunday morning April 17th I woke up with white discharge at the opening of my penis. my first thought was an STI. I contacted her and she was very caring Like you wouldn't expect someone to be. she went onto saying she has had kidney problems in the past, her and her ex would get UTIs and she also mentioned that she put on a lot of lotion that night and that it could be a Urinary Tract Infection. any who..

a couple days went by the discharge went away and I got this on-going burning sensation at the tip of my penis. I then went last Wednesday the 20th to the local clinic to get a STI screening, it was the simple urine test and the nurse there was cool she examined my genital area and there was nothing abnormal, she said she couldn't prescribe me anything till she knew what it was so she told me to wait till results come in about a week. time went on..

the burning sensation continued.. also to mention after urination there would be a mild stinging sensation that would last a couple seconds. I was frequently using the bathroom too. I was thinking maybe I ought to go get a second opinion. i went to another clinic Friday 22nd and got a full screening STD with blood testing and to look for UTI, kidney problems. they were able to do the UTI check while i was there and a found a small amount of leukocytes thats common with UTIs but she wouldn't know till she gets the lab results back.

yesterday 4-26-22 got the phone call from her. the conversation started off with UTI, kidney, bladder was negative.. STI's was negative. I’m thinking this is a great and I am okay and then she goes onto to say in your blood-work we looked for IgG antibodies for..

HSV-1 results was 0.60 negative

HSV-2 results were 1.06 H equivocal

I'm now there thinking, with a ton of anger and emotion. I'm there listening to her talk more she said I am in the grey area or undetermined. she went on more about the HSV-2 and that with my symptoms its possible i contracted the virus and for me to retest in 3 weeks but I cant rest knowing there a chance I might have this disease . I was thinking of going for another IgG Test as this is another week gone by.

today is April 27th there is still that burning sensation at the tip that lasts all day. penis also feels cold to the touch, if I squeeze at it hard enough Some clear watery fluid reaches the tip. I don't know if that's normal.

I have no sores or ulcers. she said if i had some present then she could swab it and do a rapid test that would determine if it is in fact herpes. what else could this be?

Any results under a 3.5 has a 50/50 chance of being a false positive. Yours was undetermined. Since it's possible that you could have been exposed recently it's best to retest in 3 months because by then 90 percent of people will have antibodies if indeed infected. Either way you definitely need to retest to be sure. Best of luck to you.
