hi I have been on them about the same time but 3 5 wks on 100mg. I get the head feeling slightly maybe once a day but it doesn't bother me my anxiety physical symptoms have gone but left with back ground thoughts mainly worrying about health noticing every little bump, scratch etc and a massive appetite. I can't stop eating. I have always been a big eater but before the anxiety came on I was being careful with food and exercising. I lost 2 stone and was happy anxiety hit Xmas day and took my appetite and now it's back with a vengeance. its better than having anxiety but not greatly healthy and I am now going to the gym 4 times a wk to offset the food intake. has anyone else had increased appetite on sertraline or propanolol?

hi and thanks for your reply a was Β on fluoxetine from 2012 till 2015 for ocd which caused anxiety a had no side effects took about 5 weeks to work and worked well for a while maybe sertraline is not for me a had a good appetite on floxetine and put on weight.

sertraline and propranolol are the first meds I have had and we're given for sudden onset of anxiety it's been life changing but I am learning to recognise it's my body's way of telling me I am doing too much as I am always on the go. check with your gp as if you have been ok up until now it may be a blip. I had a couple of bad days at 10/11 days into my upped dose of 100mg which was just 7 under 8 wks in total on serts maybe a blip. take care let us know how you do. P's hoping the gym will keep the weight off as it took hard work to lose 2.5 stone

no not a blip well maybe but there has been lots o them throughout the time a have been on it a read a post saying it takes about 12 weeks but a lot o negative ones maybe i should take up doing the weights again a have the bench and weights in my home but good for you coping and going to the gym and losing the weight a could not face it.Β

    Hello πŸ˜€

Sorry to hear about that it doesn't sound very nice.

Everyone is different but I have been on this three times over quite a few years my max dose was only 100mg.

I never had any symptoms like that.

It might be best to get Intouch with the gp again?

    Hope you get sorted soon.

hi three times really how long did it take you before you felt okay this is such a yoyo tablet you think your there an then your not a do not want to be negative and would gladly wait 12 weeks as someone posted that is how long it takes but other posts are negative am not sure what to do thanks for your reply and thanks for hoping me better wishing you well take care.Β

      Hi again.

Yep you are right it does seem like a yoyo! And it gets tiring of the up and downs doesn't it.

Well it's been a bit odd for me because the second time I was taking it I noticed it helping really quickly and I had no bad side affects at all. Only good.

I was taking 50mg then and it seemed to be perfect all round.

So had no complaints and after quite a few months decided to gradually wean off before hopefully having my baby.

Weaned off with hardly any side effects luckily.

But felt I needed them again recently (well 6 months ago)

Started at 50mg which seemed to do nothing.

Doctor upped it to 100mg and strangely still no effects good or bad!

I didn't want to take a higher dose I felt it might be a bit too strong.

So I am now almost finished coming back off.

It just shows it can work so differently with the same person and different people!

Luckily my doctor is helpful and there's a really kind nurse I can ask to see which is good as I know I can ask anything anytime, so it's worth you keeping Intouch with them if you can just to see what happens?

You could even note down how you seem to feel each day and then let them see?

It's such a shame some of us battle away like this πŸ‘Ž

Hopefully all turns out ok with you.

hi and thanks for the feedback a felt okay this morning so much so i left the car and walked to the shops yes it is an up and down drug and in your message i see your system became immune to them but you do not say how you went on your first time on them and how long did they take to work a would be grateful if you could let me know.

Oh that's good news that u have had a good day πŸ˜€

My first time taking them didn't take too long to start to help it must of been between 7-10 days to really notice the benefits πŸ˜€

It really eased up all of my problems but I still felt like me.

I was disappointed that this time I haven't had any affect at all. πŸ‘Ž

      All the best.

Quite a while just hang in there πŸ˜€ so many people in the same boat too.

Remember always go back to the doctor if you don't notice any help soon enough.

And hopefully it will be well worth the wait once you settle on the right dose maybe πŸ‘

    Hi John,

Sorry to hear that things have started to slow down and dip when you were making good progress. As I think I've shared with you, I'm at a similar stage to you and was feeling a lot more positive at the 8 week stage. The last week or so has been a lot more up and down. I know that our friend Blu would suggest that you do take a look at the change in brand as I know he believes that there can be a difference in the brands (not the basic ingredients but the additives that each manufacturer uses e.g. colouring). Can you get a new prescription and go back to the previous brand (if you can find a pharmacist that stocks it)? I know other factors in my life affect my mental state each day - therapy is helping me with this. I have days where I push myself to achieve what I've set out to do which helps my confidence. I've been having non-days too where I just can't motivate myself to do anything :-)

Let us know how you get on in the next few days. Good luck mate!

    Digsby

hi dibsy good to hear from you and yes i do remember you sharing things werent as good as they were and i said i was feeling good just shows you as the saying goes what a difference a day makes and yes i remember what our friend blu said but a got them from the same chemist on tuesday and most of the week a have not felt right one hour am looking forward to things next thing am not a dont understand it because i said to my brother who was with me both times at the chemist a felt much better than the last time i was there but a see where your coming from about pushing yourself my son kept on at me to take him down the park then wanted to walk round it which is miles a didnt want to but did it for him and felt better for it need to do that more often at 100mg a dont think moving up would really help but honestly instead of good days it is good hours and bad hours in the day maybe it is just not for me a will try it for a few more weeks see if things improve maybe as blu says it could be because it is a different brand let it settle in my system but i will let you know how i get on thanks for your reply your wise advice it is always welcome wishing you well my friend take care john.

Hi John, well done for taking that walk with your son. We can often push ourselves for the sake of others, and that isn't a bad thing as long as we are not overdoing it. It's ok to be taking things hour by hour, rather than day by day. Listen to your body; don't always trust your emotions & thoughts, particularly when they are unhelpful and negative. if you feel in a rut, try to distract yourself. If that doesn't work, try to ride the waves rather than get sucked under by them. Don't fight against it if the battle is causing you more emotional pain and anxiety. Focus on your son (or something else positive in your life) and wait for the cloud to pass.

Stay strong buddy - you will get there!

hi digbsby and thanks yes the walk ended up being beneficial for us both but yes i would not have done it without him need to focus more on him as the summer is looming and he will want to go places a have a car and drive which i like doing well did till a started sertraline a think because a had a really good period on fluoxetine and no side effects a was expecting the same of sertraline am now thinking of coming off them slowly as before i started in 2012 a had problems but just dealt with them but for now i agree totally with you about taking it hour by hour so much so i have arranged appontments i shold have made last month i have Β had a good day apart from headaches but everytime i say that i take a dip a negative thought that is my problem i worry to much about the future yes i need to be more positive and who knows maybe in a few weeksa the cloud will have passed thanks once again for the advise trust me it does help my friend take care.
