Is it mono?

Hello,

I am having some health conditions since around Middle of Aug. And l hope you can help me if this is related to mono.

First of all, l am male and in 20s.

In the middle of Aug. I was told l have a low testosterone but normal FSH ans TSH in the yearly routine check-uo. So, my Dr. diagnosed me with a Secondary Hypogondism. Then, after a few days l think 5 days or less l noticed l am developing ED and my knees were burning me/warm for around a week or 2.

After that l had some strange symptoms and some of them until now and they are:

Burning knees (The first 2 weeks).

Body aches/muscles aches. (The first 2 weeks).

Fatigue all the time.

Mild fever.

Hot flashes/Sweating while sleeping at a few nights.

Lower back pain at the beginning.

Had some feeling of strong blood circulation in one of my leg and right kidney or liver.

Pain in Kidney

Severe Insomnia it goes and comes.

Fast Heart palpitation in some time.

Strange taste in mouth at the beginning.

Dry mouth, but not anymore.

Abdominal pain but not anymore.

Mild Red or Pink rashes on the shoulders and the chest (Until now).

Dry Cough (It got way better).

Heart pain sometimes (It got better ).

Diarrhea and frequent urination it seems more to dark yellow and foamy (Until now). As l developed elevated protein.

Headache. (Until now).

Numbness and tingling in hands and fingers and right side of the face sometimes, and sometimes when l wake up. (Until now)

I lost my sex drive and l lost woods / erections while sleeping. (Until now) in spite of taking natural medicine as the dr. recommended.

Swollen supracalvicular and cervical lymph bodes in the neck only and under the jaw. 7 swollen lymph nodes and for the cervical and supracalivcular they. (Until now).

I went to Urologist Drs. and they prescribed me with clomid 50mg and stimulex and Cialis 5mg where it worked for sometime only. Then it sopped.

I went to meet 4-5 Endocronlogist Drs. they said you have the same diagnosis as before secondary Hypogondism as normal FSH and TSH. And 2 Dr. suspected l am having HIV. But 1 Dr. asked me if l had any intercourse recently and l said no. As l never slept with any for my whole life because of being preservative.

So, after 1 month from diagnosing and having the symptoms as a secondary Hypogondism l did all std Tests, including HIV on Sep. 16 all results were negative except for HSV1, which seems l had it when l was a kid. And the result for HIV was 0.20 and active is 1.0 antigen and antibody based on CLIA Method.

So, l went to do it again on Oct. 03 and the result was 0.35. This is still far from 1.0.

Anyways before l started to have symptoms l did many blood tests in 2018 and vaccinations ad well. before some-time from the secondary hypogonadism and before started to have any symptoms.

I did MRI for the pituitary and the results were fine:

"IMPRESSION:

  1. Normal MRI of the brain without contrast. There is no cerebral ischemia,

hydrocephalus, or intracranial hemorrhage. No findings are identified on

this study to potentially explain the patient’s symptoms. The pituitary

    gland and infundibulum are unremarkable.

  2. Small mucous retention cysts are noted in the left maxillary sinus and an

osseous septal spur projects to the left middle meatus."

I went to the emergency On Oct. 09 as l have swollen supracavicular (hard) and mild cervical lymph nodes, diarrhea and insomnia at that time They did both cbc and EBV tests and l had severe insomnia at that time.

And the results were as follow:

GRAY ZONE. IgM is presumptively Non Reactive

detected.

anti-VCA IgM

anti-VCA/EA IgG REACTIVE

anti-EBNA-1 IgG REACTIVE

Agray zone IgM result combined with

reactive VCA- IgG and EBNA- IgG

antibodies is suggestive of either recovery

from a recent EBV infection, reactivation

of a past infection or a false positive IgM.

And it showed elevated wbc and neutrophils. So, both tests confirmed l have an infection according to the Dr. And she repeated the test on the second day, and the results were normal.

And for the EBV Infection Kinticks is showing l am getting better according to the Internal Medicine Dr. informed me that it will take around maximum a few months for the nodes to return to its normal size.

So, l am worried l might got infected with mono or more serious disease like HIV or maybe l have been infected with lyme disease as it already made me very weak. I am really having difficult time as with these symptoms above.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

    Hi AJ,

Oh goodness I'm so sorry to hear about this terrible time you have been going through. I do hope and pray so much for things to improve soon, to have to deal with so many symptoms and going through various tests and things is so draining and wearying. Please hang in there AJ, praying for God's help, intervention and healing in your situation, whatever is going on - I do believe Jesus is the great physician AJ and praying so much for breakthrough and recovery for you.

It sounds like you have been doing all the right things in checking in with the doctors and them doing tests. It doesn't make it any easier to cope with and go through though and just having to deal with the worry and stress of it is a terrible thing I know. I'm sure you may already have had it but always worth asking your doctor to do a blood test for mono, that's how it's diagnosed through a simple blood test but the frustrating thing with it can be that it often only shows up as positive in the first maybe month or two of the virus, but it's different for everyone I think and I do think they can tell for definite if you have had a past or maybe even recent infection with it. And remember if it is mono, nasty and horrible as it is, it does get better AJ, it can take a little while to get fully over and did for me, but thanks to God only was able to get there with it so grateful for that - and I believe you are going to get better too AJ from whatever is going on and thinking about you at this tough time.

Of course do keep checking in with the doctor AJ, hoping so much they can take the time to get to the bottom of this and offer the right advice, treatment and support, and are able to offer reassurance and put your mind at rest that you are going to be well again.

When I had mono (and of course can be helpful just generally anyway) taking vitamins and herbs really helped me. A good strong multi-vitamin per day (Immunace was the one I took here in the UK), higher doses of Vitamin C (1000mg-3000mg per day), a B complex vitamin per day (great for nervous system and energy levels) and immune boosting herbs like siberian ginseng, echinacea and oregano, and extra Vitamin D too especially in the winter.

Remember I'm no expert on these things just going on my own research and things that have helped me, always just make sure checking in with the doctor if any supplements are right for you when dealing with any medical conditions, as sometimes taking certain things can interact with certain conditions, etc - so maybe worth checking in with doc regarding that too. I'm afraid I don't have any knowledge on the technical side of the blood / medical results, but I know some people on the site here are good with that kind of thing and hoping anyone with good knowledge in this area can post and offer some good advice.

Hang in there AJ, take things one day at a time right now and I will say a prayer for you. I believe God is going to get you through this and you will get back to good health again, I really believe that AJ hang in there.

    Hi AJ

I had the same fears as you so i went and tested myself for everything under the sun including HIV and Lyme disease.. i know its easy for your mind to go down that path. if it will make u feel better then go and get tested for whatever you are worried about. But from personal experience it got to a point where i tested for so many things i got paranoid and started to look to hard for things that it could be. Just have faith you will get better because you will.

Totally agreeing with Ant AJ that you will get better, man it sounds like such a hard time you've been through but hang in there God will pull you through I do believe that AJ. Thinking about you and empathising like Ant as it's awful when going through tests and cycles of worry and panic about what it could be - I'm standing in belief with Ant and you that things are going to get better, even if it's not immediate and takes a little while for full recovery - don't panic is the message because you will get there - hoping, praying and believing that today in Jesus' name.

Hoping you are doing okay Ant, it's nice to see a post from you and hoping things are settled and seeing improvements in your health too.
