is it normal for head to be very sore after a week with shingles. on top and right side of head.  is this normal

    Irene - my shingles on my nose and forehead started with a headache. This was before the scab stage. I had the anti - viral pills, and they reduced the headache significantly. After those pills finished, the headache came on worse. I cannot tell you whether that is `normal' or not, but I think my Doc expected me to have some post herpectic issues...I am currently prescribed CoCodamol 4 times in 24 hours

    and 50 mg amitriptyline at night.

    However, at best, they only take the edge off the pain .......

    Yes, unfortunately it can take quite a while for the soreness to go :-(

    I had shingles on my forehead and scalp in June 2016 and it was very tender for several weeks afterwards. The summer's heat and sunshine didn't help at all, and I had to put a fleece over my pillow so that I couldn't feel the feathers inside.
