Is it normal to have Shingles over 4 months?

I discovered I had shingles fairly late into it. That said I just finished a week of Valtrax and it did improve some of the symptoms (brain fog, exhaustion, lymph node sweeling etc)!, however, my rash seems only slightly responsive. One thing I note about mine is the rash has never developed blisters and is painless (though it itches like heck!). Up until Jan 2019, I was the blessed guy that never got so much as a cold or flu, but then I got a nasty "unidentified lung virus" as the Doctor put it that lasted 5 months. I can't help believe that despite it being outside the generally accepted timeline it must have been Covid, as I'd never experienced anything like it...and it was so persistent.

Simply because my presentation is so different than what the medical literature describes, I'm wondering if it's even shingles at all. Any insight, much appreciated.
