Is it ok to take ppi immediately on waking up?

As I have been taking ppi first thing in morning and having breakfast after around 2-3 hours.Is it ok?

    2 to 3 hours is too long the PPI s are meant to be taken approx one hour before eating for maximum effect. this is usually indicated on the box.

      Hi @joseph98786,thanks for the reply. I take it in the morning because sometimes I forget to take it 30 min before meal.I just wanted to know that does the medicine works fine if meal taken 2-3 hours after?

    My gastroenterologist recommended 30 minutes before a high protein breakfast and that has worked wonderfully for me.

    I only cough for about an hour on and off when I get up and only when I eat. They think it is a side effect of the Ramipril (blood pressure) tablets or the cholesterol tablets I'm on? Doc gave me Omeprazole, didn't work well so now I'm trying my wife's Lansoprazole for a week to see if they work, it's doing my head in now, grrrrrrrr. I can't eat out in restaurants without coughing my guts up! embarrassing, mind you with Covid here, no restaurants for a while!
