I've been on 50mg for 2 years+
I asked my Dr the same question as I'm worried to come off them.
He said, if there was a problem say with your thyroid then you'd have to take meds all your life to make you better.
I don't plan to come off mine any time soon.

I didn't explain that very well!!
He was meaning that I would stay on them as long as needed as you would any other medication to make you better.

I take mine for anxiety. I remember the side effects of starting all too well and they were awful.

Have you increased from a lower dose to 100mg?
I know sometimes there can be an overlap in the side effects when increasing as the brain has to get used to it again.

Hi yes I was on 50mgs for just over a week and then 100mgs for the past 8wks. It’s the feeling of depersonalisation and feeling like I’ve lost myself that scares me and that makes me panick even more. Did you ever experience anything like this 🌹

Hi again
I did for a while but only I'd say the 1st 3 weeks or so.
Maybe a dose adjustment would help you but obviously speak with your gp.
I understand how terrible you feel as do most on here as we've all been there at some stage or another.
Please speak with your Dr. Let me know how you get on and feel free to message if you need a chat x

Thank you so much natd . Yeh it’s so scary not feeling like myself. I was on paroxatine for 17yrs tho. Then the doctor decided to change my medication. So I don’t know wether it’s the change over or not. If these don’t start helping me soon tho. I’m thinking of going back on my old 1s.🌹

Sort debra, meant to type sister instead of disorder! I'm on sertraline now too...2 1/2 weeks on 50mg and 100mg for the past 10 days. My sister just says "it'll all come good" and "you'll be like a new woman" when I tell her on a daily basis how awful I feel with dizziness, nausea, heightened anxiety. Anyone I've spoken to says 6-8 weeks to see improvements else a dose increase may be necessary. Perhaps ask your gp what the next step should be? Hope you're feeling better really soon xx

Just Friday past, I had tried to sleep for a little while but couldn't. When I sat up I felt like I was in a dreamlike state...as you say, slightly detached from myself. It is a known affect of anxiety (depersonalisation) but really scary none the less! I took 2mg diazepam and everything settled xx

Aww thank you so much Gabrielle. So it is only to do with my anxiety?do u think these tablets will help it get better for me tho? As it’s so scary and that makes me panick even more. Wot other medication do you take for the anxiety then? Is it just sertraline and Diazipan 🌹

Just the sertraline and diazepam. I use the diazepam sparingly, though my gp has said to use it 3 times a day until the sertraline kicks in. I've heard and read of so many people that this drug has worked fantastically well for, so we must never lose hope that it will do the same for us. It is slow acting and has hellish initial side effects but it shows how strong we actually are that we are dealing with them, working through them and moving forward a little every day xx
