Don't apply them at exactly the same time. I the steroid and wait about an hour for th emu. oil. The vulva clinic told that I should always use emu oil, or some other moisturizer when using steroids

      Dear ElleF,

You mention vulva clinic. Have you ever asked the specialist about the Borax treatment that others are recommending on this site?

So you say use the oil on top of steroid ointment.

Question- does you LS affect only the vulva? What about the entire hair area around the vulva and all the way back to the anus?

Hi, my name is JoAnna and I just found this site ... My doctor recommended Vit. E with the clobetasol. Do you prefer emu oil?

Mary, JoAnna here,I am new to the site and just had an LS diagnosis 3 months ago. My vulva, hair area and perianal area are all involved. I am concerned about using the clobetasol too frequently. I have only seen my doctor once and am waiting to see her again .. lots of questions!

I have used the steroid ointment and then shortly after emu oil or coconut oil.  Not a problem.

?But the thing is - now I also use Borax I need less and less of the steroid ointment.  Only occasionally and then a very small amount.

?Plus as I mentioned earlier - I take Borax baths, since I now understand that it is a deep cleanser.  Just don't use too much of it.

?There is now so little left of fusing, almost to be ignored, that I dare to take things a little easier at times - not rinsing as often when bathroom facilities are primitive for instance.

      ?

Would you please tell me how frequently you bath with Borax and how much of it do you put in the bath? Also when you do need the steroid, how long do you use it calm things down? Thank you?

I have been applying the clobetasol, in a very thin layer, all over my bottom as it all itches. Is this incorrect? Then I wait 30 _40 minutes and apply Vit E. Just read about using Emu Oil, so I will find it asap.

Trying to write you an answer for the third time, the program doesn't want to work, so this is a test.

      I'll continue...

?I use 1/6th of a cup of Borax in my bath and that every other day.  At first I used more but my body didn't appreciate that.

Clob I use occasionally and only a very very small amount. Applied before bedtime.  The next morning all is under control again.

      Hi Mary,

Yes it can go down to the anus which is the classic figure 8 pattern.

Have you watched the Dr. Goldstein webinar? It will describe this figure 8 as well as give you a good understanding of LS, how and where to apply the steroid etc. I think the video runs about 45-60 minutes.

You can find it under 'New To LS' at the beginning of the LS forum and follow the link to the Dr Goldstein webinar.

I use emu oil and have never tried Vitamin E. Coconut didn't work for well for me. There are a variety of oils and moisturizers that are used by the women on the forum here and elsewhere. It's about what works for you and so like a lot of LS it's trial and error until you find something that works.

I like the consistency of the emu oil, find it easy to apply and it doesn't stain.

Trying to read everything ... So if I understand, you were able to reverse what I am seeing in myself? What I just explained in a different note?

      Hello Joanna,

It seems LS is on my mind everyday. I'll see gyno next month, it's been a year that I was diagnosed after being in remission since my 20s. I worry about the fusing. I have had 2 of 3 Mona Lisa treatments. I am 59 years old.The itching and/or pain is under control - Clobetasol about twice a week and Aquiphor ointment and Emu oil at all times for moisturizing. Haven't tried the other stuff recommended on this site , the Borax baths. I've got to ask my doctor first. I think everyone is a little different but I think I have the standard treatment down. I'll see what else my doctor can tell me. I really like sharing my experiences and hearing from others.

Google it for more info. It is laser treatment for inside vagina and outside on vulva to help regenerate skin cells. Not covered by insurance yet, about $1800 for three treatments six weeks apart. Not a cure for LS for me yet but I feel better, still using steroid (less often) and moisturizer.
