Is it Perimenopause????

I am beyond tired of this! I am so frustrated!! So I went to my OBGYN for the second time today to be told the same thing! I am NOT in perimenopause!! I need to think about seeing a psychiatrist!!!!!!! I left so frustrated i cried when i got in the car!!! I was literally going back and forth with her begging her to run tests on me. We already ran all that on you in July and you are fine is what she kept saying. headaches, dizziness, heart palpatations, nervous/shaking feeling, tingling in arms and hands, crazy thoughts, all come and go some days worse than others...she finally did a heavy metals panel after i almost threatened her!!!! Maybe that will yield something!!! Not that i want it to i just want to know if this is indeed perimenopause. i would feel much more at ease and be better able to deal with it if i know its that!! Not knowing and then being told im not is super scary and frustrating!!! how do you know im not in perimenopause??? because of my age???? i just turned 40 and like i told her it is not impossible to start early!!!! why are you dismissing that and going straight to its mental????? she asked are my periods regular and i told her yes except my last one was 4 days and ive never had one that short. she then says oh thats normal?????? so i said ok so if i dont have a period next month i need to come back?? she said no thats normal????? WHAT?????? well if everything is normal how the hell can you tell when someone is in peri? SMH!!!! oh i just pray i get answers. i have had ekgs and chest xrays and bloodwork and thank God it all comes back normal....but i dont feel normal.....

the 40s by far worst years of my life! really can't tell perimenopause at all by tests.. can only go by symptoms, and sounds like to me you have all the symptoms all of us other woman on this site have,,. if all your tests come back negative I would be at ease and chalk it up as perimenopause.. your periods will change just give it time.. this is a SLOW process everything from heavy periods to non existent they will go all over the place , and all the other symptoms will follow for days weeks months and years everyone is different some suffer more than others., its very hard to go thru this change you can feel like you are dying its scary as hell and feel all alone.. in not sure the end result because in not there myself yet still going thru bad symptoms also.. but have read it gets better after all hormones settle and that can take years I'm afraid.. you can do things to help such as try your best to eat right exercise yoga meditation hot baths massage anything that helps you to cope and only you can figure that out.. maybe some supplements.. lots of things can aggravate the symptoms causing you to feel worse so trying to make yourself as comfortable as possible is key.. these doctors are clueless to this maybe she will go thru herself one day then truly understand.. in the meantime maybe look for another doctor,( who is more understanding and sympathetic) I picked one who was in her 50s thought to myself oh shell be perfect, couldn't have been more wrong .. all though looking back I think she may have been going thru it herself and didn't even realize it by her demeanor.. she was in plain term a bit nutty.. and was clearly frustrated and even talked under her breath.. I did not stay around to be treated like that..but this has been the worst time of my life these past 5 years and even longer looking back now..I still don't know myself if all this is perimenopause because I had hysterectomy when I was 27 but ovaries were left in me to go thru a natural menopause ha nothing natural about this at all.. but because I have no idea where id be in this process ( no periods to go by) I just gave to go by my age and symptoms and I have a bunch of recurring symptoms that I write everyday they just keep repeating..keep in mind when you are losing your hormones more and more during this process your body is ran by these hormones that are leaving you therefore only thing that will help is replacing these hormones so that everything can function again.. brain thyroid ECT...and for many woman they can't take hrt for many reasons me being one of them., so antidepressants things like that is not replacing the hormones that you are missing.. also I hear you can't stay on hrt forever and when you come off you start the process all over again.. no way around it just have to go thru it..be strong hope you find some relief for yourself , its a very very hard time in life it really is..

Just playing devil's advocate here, but if you have been told that the symptoms may be caused by a psychiatric condition is it not worth at least looking into the possibility? Psychogenic illness can cause all sort of horrible and widespread symptoms?
