Every symptom of plantar fasciitis with no bottom of foot pain. I've had stiffness extreme pain in my ankle, I had an X-ray that showed s heel spur and all the symptoms of plantar fasciitis. In the morning can't walk, stretching helps, at night sometimes sore, during excercis I'm ok the next morning cant walk, I feel like my ankle is going to snap. The brace to bed helps and all the stretches help why don't I feel pain in my heel?

    Could be its not PF ! ! ! ! !

    Could be something else.

I was diagnosed with PF for 17 years and now after an operation for PF the latest is that I never had PF.

    Could be what I have.

Hi, just read your message, thought i would reply as might help? I have had plantar faciitis and achilles tendonitis for 2 years and 3 months now (not counting much) lol, i have stiffness and soreness around my ankles all the time and very stiff when if get out of bed plus a bit swollen,  especially when i sit for a bit or do too much. my left ankle has a lump, on it and feels how you describle yours, painful, I have had x rays, mri, ultrasound, stretches, icing, tablets, accipuncture, physio, etc you name it i have had it! Nothing seems to help, i find my arches are sore quite alot, particularly when i rest or in bed but like you, right under my heals is not where the pain is, consultant says it is both conditions which is why possibly taking longer to go or manage, and says it can be common to get both these conditions together as all connected  with the tendons and plantar etc, I call it flippin unluckly!!! But anyway, just wandered if you might have achilles tendonitis too, i try not to do too much, standing is the worst! Especially if in a queue or stood for a length of time, just cant, is this the same for you? Maybe worth looking into?  If any help, the only thing i do find helps is swimming, breast stroke, they reckon it is the best exercise for the plantar faciitis and arches.

Good luck anyway, hope it soon starts to be less painful, its such an annoying condition and very debilitiating, i really think there is not enough known about it to really give the proper treatment, different doctors and consultants all seem to have a different approach! Which really doesnt help.

I've coached sport prefessionally and had players complain of PF (my view) and then the physio has confirmed. I've known some golfers who have developed PF in my golf club (I have t ouse a buggy!) and they all talk of the first few steps in the morning. I have never had that first few steps thing.

I've now been doing the exercises for 8 weeks - into my 9th.

The feed got real bad the first few weeks but that haas subsided nos and just back to normal pain. The original injury was on August 17th 1998 whilst warming up for a match - doing calf raises. One of my present exercises it to to 3 sets of 25 calf raises 4 times a day. It hasn't made the pain any worse. I'm hoping that the original issue was due to targeting the bits that are actually injured.

A lot op people here describe their pain as similar to mine and I'm now doubting if I ever had PF.

The orthapaedic specialist says theres only ligaments, tendons and Fascia holding the feet together so pain is caused by one of these being damaged (or more than on I guess).

I say get a second opinion, and then a third and then a fourth......
