Is it possible to have PSA in both knees

Is it possible to get PSA in only one area, such as the knees, and nowhere else? I haven't yet been diagnosed, but I am thinking about talking to my doctor in my next appointment. I have intermittent bouts of considerable discomfort on both of my knees (at the same time, too). It doesn't make it painful to walk, actually walking is the only thing which alleviates the discomfort. Does this even sound like arthritis?

I would think it is, but i am not trained in this area. PsA can affect any joint and fewer than 5 joints, so in prinicpal i would say its possible. What are the symptoms e.g. swelling, pain, location of knee pain on the kneee etc If you have tight calves sometimes pain in the back of the knees can be related to tendons needing stretched.

My Psoriatic Arthritis began with a sharp pain on the top of my foot and from there it moved to my knees.  I now have it in just about every joint and it chooses to attack different joints at different times.  Strang thing is that once I starte don Humira my knee pain left and I very seldom have an attack there now.  Unfortunately I still get bad flares and my hands have been the hardest hit.  We are all different so I suggest you see a rheumatologist .  If it is arthritis, the sooner you are on meds, the less permanent joint damage.  Best of luck

Do you mind me asking how you were diagnoised? Was this via bloods and xrays? Sorry to hear about the flare ups, when this happens would say this is a transient thing, as in, some extra pain relief ontop until it passess.

Hi I asked my rheumy the same question.

he said there are markers in the blood called iL-17 & iL-23 that shows PSA.

      Have a good evening biggrin

It was many years ago but I remember having bloodwork and testing negative for RA.  Also have had xrays.  I think the fact that my Dad had psoriasis so badly played into it too. I did have  small area of pustular psoriasis on my hands and feet some time before the arthritis kicked in too.  The psoriasis never came back and hope it never does but the arthritis has been a curse.  The only thing that helps with my bad flares is extra prednisone.  Too bad it does suchbad things to the body because it really helps the pain and swelling so much.

      Donna,

oh yes I luv pred and I also have a huge respect for it. It's not body friendly used long term..

I have P. All my life many types. It just popped uo as PSA about 5 years ago.

i was dealing fine . Then had surgery on one finger and closed a flake. It has left my good hand curled &'frozen . The surgeons said it caused stress and flared. Always the risk easy for him to say. I said well would u take the risk as a surgeon? Ok point made..

It it is a auto immine disease & runs in our family. Just know that having P. On the hands down not always predispose PSA.

      TAKE CARE

      HOPE
