i have been suffering from diarrhoea constantly since past 4 months. all tests, including gluten allergy, lactose intolerance, colonoscopy etc. are normal. i dont feel any pain or anything like that, just loose stools and sometimes foamy stools too. earlier the stools were also abnormal, which has since improved. the symptoms worsen once my sleep gets disturbed. no other symptoms. in addition, i m loosing weight (though not much about 1 kg in 4 months). anti spasmodics are also not helping. please help. is it really IBS or can it be something else?

bile acid malabsorption can mimic ibs symptoms. but many people aren't tested for it & get wrongly diagnosed with ibs. ask your gastro consultant to do a sehcat test to test this is not your problem. this involves taking a mildly(safe) radioactive capsule that contains synthetic bile acid with a tracer. they then take pictures 3hrs later. you return to hosp for a 2nd scan 1wk later. they can workout from this if you are losing bile acid through your intestines, when your body is actually supposed to recycle most of it back to your gall bladder for next mealtime. if you are losing too much bile acid through your intestines, it can give you the same symptoms as ibs, but can be corrected with medication. worth asking about...take care

If you can reduce/avoid stress, it could help - maybe journal your emotions and daily diet to see if stress or food triggers show up? Therapy, meditation, accupuncture...yoga...any thing that appeals to you for relaxation you should keep trying. Plus a probiotic? I'm not sure if you've tried that or not.
It certainly could be something else, but you've had negative tests before and I don't know what to suggest next? But your Dr should be continuing tests if nothing is helping you so far...
Good luck!

by removing all proccesed foods
sugar and flour cheese from your diet including root veg and fruit .
just for 3 months . then you can go back to eating everything you like in sensisable amounts
. if you get a thick set live yogart and mix it with bottled water in a pint glass say half a large tub of yogart this works much better then eating it from the tub . i was told this by a nutrionlist .
if you get a small piece of yeast and add just a few grains of sugar you will see the yeast spread this is excatly what happens inside your body
when it gets out of control all kinds of illnesses happen .
