Is it really just anxiety?

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have a symptom that I am extremely worried about. It has seriously affected my daily life. I keep thinking about it every second.

I have done multiple health tests all showing normal results and I have been examined by 4 doctors (including specialised doctors, very experienced family doctors and doctor who is a very close friend) all pointing out that the symptom is very minor, ignorable and nothing to worried about.

However I am still not convinced and am extremely worried. Doctors believe that my deep concern is purely caused by mental anxiety, and they believe that I am all healthy. (while I do not believe)

I tried very hard to believe but looking at the symptom, it just does not look like what I remember it should look like. I am really not able to just ignore the symptom as doctors told. It has been few months so I have no idea when it will "recover". I am worried it's something very serious and I feel hopeless.

Would you believe in the doctors in this case? Do you think it's just my anxiety? Thanks.

Thank you for your reply, Libby. I'm sorry to hear what you have been through. I hope you're better now.

No I am not on any med. My depression/anxiety just happened in recent few months. My anxiety is real but I am not sure if it is actually a "anxiety disorder". I cannot tell.

Hi Jane. Thanks for your reply.

I have not done the tests you mentioned. Are these tests for anxiety disorder or depression?

It would get very complicated here to explain all the details of the symptom here. It might be more suitable on forum of another category.

Hi again  Thyroid disorders and low VitaminD and Vit B12 deficiency can cause anxiety and depression so that is a very goo reason why theey should be tested for before making a diagosis pof anxiety and depressionthat putting a patient on ad and anti depressants which will nothelp as thee root cause may not being addressed.

    Ken

You have done the rounds and each Doctor has confirmed what your ondition is.

If you do not trust their diagnosis you need to ask why ? To be honest many Dotors would feel peeved and upset you do not trust all their diagnosis and depending where you are on this blue ball would just pass you on to someone else.

It does sound like an Anxiety and given that you need treatments to help you treat your fears.

Your Doctor is in partnership with you regards health issues, He will suggest treatment plans

Hi Bob. Thank you for your reply.

You are right. Some of the doctors did get a little out of patience when I came back again and again asking the same questions.

I have no doubt that I am having behaviours of anxiety/depression, but somehow I really don't know, with the presence of the symptom, any treatment in the psychological aspect would be of any use. The harmless symptom seems to be the root of the fear. I feel stuck.

If your doctors are telling you that your diagnosis is anxiety, then it may be time to start working on that. I highly suggest you speaking with a counselor who can help you with your fear. I went through  The same thing with my symptoms of anxiety of which there can be hundreds! Remember one thing… FEAR Stands for false evidence appearing real. Sometimes when we have these sometimes we think it something far worse than what it actually is. Fear is actually based on non-reality because it is us worrying about something that we think MAY happen.  Fear is paralyzing but you don't have to live that way.

There is a great audio that I feel you would really benefit from. It has really helped me. It is called "anxiety attacks cure-self help anxiety treatment"

put in some earbuds and listen. It explains to us what to do when we are having symptoms of anxiety. A lot of people get more anxious when They have a symptom which actually increases the anxiety and the symptoms !

audio explains what we should be actually doing.

after you listen to that one, you can find many meditative audios dealing with anxiety, depression, sleeping well etc. find the ones you like and listen often. They are very relaxing and teach you how to separate negative thinking from yourself.

I really like one called meditation for clearing subconscious negativity and another one called guided meditation for detachment from  overthinking.

if you can possibly pick up a book called mindfulness meditation it would be excellent help for you!! It also teaches us how to develop peace of mind and eliminate negative thinking .

Thank you Jan, for explaining FEAR to me and recommending the materials. I will sure take a read or listen, and I have just booked a psychiatrist session. I hope it's a start of recovering. Although at this point the symptom is still bothering me every second. I would like to give psychiatrist a try.
