Is it really tighter?

Posted , 7 users are following.

I'm 25, four children and I have a prolapse of the bowel, bladder and womb. Tomorrow I am having surgery to correct this.

Apart from the pain and other symptoms of the prolapse I have, it was more the "gaping hole" that bothered me.

I can hardly feel sex, it's not particularly enjoyable so after looking online I have seen that if they're tightening the vaginal walls (which is what my consultant has told me is happening) then I would be a lot tighter (helping to keep organs in place and Maybe, just maybe actually have a sex life again.)

Who's noticed a good difference? Is sex better?

I'm intrigued! X

Hi Girls. If the Surgeon does it properly he/she will be making sure that you aren't too tight for sex. I only had cystocole repair 2mths ago and sex is the same for me as it was before. They can't operate and make it not possible to achieve penetration - Dr. would be aware you are still sexually active at such a young age. If the Dr. makes you too tight, then surely they aren't experienced enough to be doing this operation. Hopefully you are having a very experienced Urogynaecologist - they have had extra training on top of what a Gynaecologist has had.

I would think and hope so. I was the same as you after a forceps delivery with a really gaping perineum, I've had perineum repair and a&p repair and it's definitely much smaller from the outside, inside is still completely swollen so I don't yet know how much smaller. To be honest I'm worried it's going to be too small...

I'm nearly 5 weeks post op for a&p repair and Perineum repair. It's too early to tell as sex is the last thing I'd want at the moment! But, I had 'the gape' too and that's definitely gone and it all feels tighter.

Tbh though I'm quite scared about having sex again, definitely dont think it will be as early as 6 weeks... Luckily my husband is very understanding!

Good luck with it all 😊

Oh my gosh, If I could go back and not do the surgery I would... They say 6 WEEKS recovery for a reason. They slice you from the back inside your Vagina to the outside opening. Top wall of Vagina cystocele procedure bottom rectocele procedure.. This has not been easy going for me. 16 days post op.

I hope everything goes well for you. OH OH Sex, that what is that?.. As on now NEVER!!!!

    Hi Lauajadey,

You poor thing! I hope everything heals well in the future and sex is wonderful again. I truely believe having a positive attitude helps heaps as does being prepared and forwarned. Try to think of the postives of the surgery , how much better your quality of life will be, how bad things were before the surgery.. must have been pretty bad for you to even consider the surgery.

Lastly I hope that other ladies that are up for surgery in the coming months read this with the cry for help it is not a warning not to have the surgery.

I believe that we must all choose our own paths in life and for me even 12 months of discomfort would be worth it to fix the embarasasing and life stopping problems of incontinence and sex without pain.

Good luck stay positive it's only been 16 days and feel free to post again. Seek help ask your gyno, even local gp.

    Hope this helps

I haven't had surgery but I have spent years on the Internet and talking to people about all things proloase related and it seems hit and miss to me. Some women say it feels like before they had children, some say they still feel stretched and others are too tight, I don't think there's any way of knowing until it's done. I think all we can do is research, ask questions, make it clear what our expectations are and ask if they're achievable and try and pick the best surgeon we can. Good luck with your surgery, I hope it all goes perfectly for you smile
