Is it TB?

I have had a scan that showed no sign of cancer , but I keep having repeated chest infections, I have had this continuous productive cough for some months now ,and I'm quite breathless ,,,even talking on the phone ,or making the bed makes me more breathless,,I saw the copd nurse Specialist last week and she asked me to send in a sputum sample ,,,even though I told her the sputum was not green or of colour ,,,,,on the form to be sent with the sample she had written ,,,",recurring chest infection ,WHY ? ". ,,I don't expect anyone to be mind readers ,,,,,but any idea why she put ,,," WHY " ,,,what else could it be ,,I'm thinking is it possibly TB,,,,,or am I over thinking it ,,,,it's just that this dam cough etc has gone on & on ,,,,

i should say ,,I have asthma ,and some Bronchietis ,,,,any comments would be appreciated ,,,,thanks in advance ,

Sounds like it could be COPD - have you had a spirometry test?  You'd need to ask her why she put WHY on your form.

If you have asthma and bronchietis couldn't those be causing your symptoms?

Hi ,yes I've had all the tests scans and X-rays etc, and sent in many samples for resting ,it's just the first time I've seen Why on the form ,,,,and I've had  this continuous productive cough since the summer,( never this long before ,) your probably right it's probably the Bronchietis that's causing it ,,,,,just seemed strange and I told her ( consultant ) that my sputum was clear ,,,,just lots of it ,but showed no sign to me of infection,so my mind was over working ,,,,looking for the why ,thanks for your reply ,

Hi I am from Australia but find a lot of Doctors here put "why?" on forms.  I think they are just asking whoever is testing your sample to give their opinions on what they think it is, not just the clinical results. smile  I have the same symptoms as you and it is the bronchieactisis that causes the problem (coughing and out of breath). Hi Cheryl ,thanks for your reply, I'm sorry to hear you have the same illness as myself, but greatful to hear your opinion, I have sent many many samples in for testing since 1992 , but this was the first time I have seen this written on the testing request form ,especially when I had told her my sputum although lots of it ,,,showed no sign to me of infection ,I am seeing her again on Wednesday so I will keep you updated ,thanks again ,,,

    Nanny1086,

Don't get upset sweetie...I think she put those words for lack of knowing what it is really as well. And it's probably a good thing bc for her to put infection on there will surely have them test for infections specifically. Do you see what I'm saying? You called it that yourself so she just called it what you did. Just wait and see the results...pray about it. Let us know. Ladyjack51

Hi everyone ,,,,well I had the sputum test results back ,,,,and yeh,,,,for the first in months ,,,,I am free from chest infection ,,,,and nothing Nasty showed up AT ALL ,,,,so I'm big happy ,,,,finally I can back to the

gym  ( after a 4 week top up with PR  ) and with some hard work and persivereance I will get back to a good fitness level ,,,,the consultant did stress the importance of chest clearance ,,,which I have to say ,,,,at times over the last few months ,,,I have been tooooooo tired and weak to do them properly ,,,,so onwards and upwards ,and a positive attitude,,,,oh ,,,she did make the comment ,,,," put your Oxymeter in the draw and forget about it for now " ,,,,and I only need to check it once a week ,,,,or when I feel poorly ,,,, I'll kept you all know of my progress ( if any ) haha,

thankyou all for caring so much ,it's greatly appreciated, bye for now ,
