is it time to increase sertraline

Hi i havent posted on here for about a month now. my husband is about 10 weeks into a dose of 50mg of sertraline prescribed for anxity. he suffered terrible side effects for the first month or so but is now definatly having effect combined with therapy and other changes. He is back at work now almost full time and was doing brilliant till last Thursday. He had a funeral of his Uncle last Thursday and saw a family member his sister who is so unsupportive and hasnt been in touch since this anxiety started in january even though she is local and is aware of the situation as sees their parents most days. (to be honest the issues we have with her are a whole different matter ). Anyway he had a panic attack at the funeral and if im honest weve had a awful week and feel like we are going backwards again. Its hard as now he is back at work even though that doesnt stress him he says but he had the added pressure that he has to go in and if he feels crap thats not good. Hes not due to see his GP till the 9th May but im wondering if an increase in sertraline may help or is what she will do. Has anybody seen an improvment in their condition in an icrease from 50-100mg. Many thanks for your helpĀ

Hi LBC, Isuppose I'm the same boat as your husband, I too suffer from anxiety, and it was my wife who persuaded my to try an Antidepressant and my GP suggested Sertraline, I started on 50mg for about a month then my GP increased it to 100mg, I've been on this dose now for about seven months, and it has really worked for me, I've had a couple of setbacks, but just forced my way through, I feel a lot bettter, but it did take me about 10 weeks at 100mg to get to where I am now, which is about 98% of my old self back, my wife says I'm so much better, and better to live with lol ! So I guess what I'm saying is, maybe get your husband to go up to 100mg, but I did some of side effects again, increased anxiety, tummy trouble, not sleeping, but they were'nt as bad as when I first went on Sertraline, tell him to keep going, he'll get there, I too am fine at work, and now it takes a lot to get me anxious outside, tell him to think positive, it will get better,

My advice as he was doing so well.......keep at this dose but get some Hypnotherapy from a recommended professional. It costs but will help enormously in managing the typical out of the blue panic Attack.

Give it a try and be open minded as it can be 'interesting'. You don't get like a stage show, you get put in a relaxed trance and you let go and syuff happens. I love it.
