Hello, My name is Eve and i am a 14 year old living with Sjogrens. I was diagnosed just over a year ago and things are gradually getting better for me, but i still have so many unanswered questions. I heard that people can get sjogrens then get cancer because you are more prone? I just want to know if its true to be honest, any ideas?

Hello Eve. So sorry that so young a person has SS. IF YOU ARE IN THE UK, the British Sjorgrens Syndrome Association is a great source of information and advice. Personally, I have not heard of this link. There are many, many other conditions, mostly rheumatologist prevalent amongst SS suffered.
In the long run, it's trial and error as to what helps your specific problems, This forum is a great way to hear about what others are trying out, or have come across.
All the best

My mum recently did a triathlon to raise money for the BSSA, as we live in the UK, however i havent really looked into the website much so hopefully that is a help for me!
Being a Teen with SS is hard but i am gradually getting better, so hopefully life will be easier in the future.
I am actually seeing a therapist at the minute which is really helping so i should be fine.
Thanks for answering my question Estelle.

Hi Eve. I'm glad you have received a diagnosis - knowledge is power, as they say. But i am so sorry to hear that it has come at such a young age.
People with Sjogrens do have an increased risk of lymphoma. However, the risk is very small. Of all Sjogren's sufferers, only 5% will go on to develop lymphoma. That means that 95% of Sjogrens sufferers will NOT got Lymphoma.
Sjogrens has not been shown to increase the risk of any other types of cancer. The risk of getting any other cancer is the same as the risk for the general population.
I don't think you should worry too much about lymphoma, but it's important to be aware that you may have an increased risk for it.
