Is my BP high

I've in the past suffered with high BP post pregnancy leading to an anxiety about it. Lately it's been great sitting at 110/77 ish which for me is the lowest I think I've know since having children!!! My question is this last week I've taken it a few times of the last 4 or 5 days and it's sitting at 110-120/83-88 fairly consistently it is 115/85 I'm not on medication anymore and I'm grateful for this but I'm worried by reading are high which in turn spikes my anxiety and my panic. My HR is around 60-70 so not due to raised pulse. Help I'm making myself feel ill

your blood pressure is fine. If the highest reading you’re getting is 120/88 , that is still not considered high blood pressure. High blood pressure begins at 140/90.

with you getting anxious, it’s most likely raising your blood pressure. You should really focus on relaxing, doing some meditation, yoga, breathing exercises all can be found on YouTube.

don’t needlessly raise your blood pressure with anxiety. even if you actually had high blood pressure, medications for that can quickly bring it down. I take one every day. Before I started medication my blood pressure was 150/90 range. Now it’s in the 120s over 70 sometimes 115/70. blood pressure is very manageable. relax.

      Hi,

Just to back up Jan's post your BP certainly doesn't look high to me either. At it's best when relaxed mine reads 130/80 however this can jump to around 150-160/90 . I am not overweight, relatively active - yet still have these constant high readings. Interestingly my resting heart rate is quite low - around 55-60 , maybe this is in response to regulate my constant high BP ? I would like to think that it may be due to being somewhat fit (regular jogger) but maybe this is not the case ?

      Many thanks for any feedback.

Good afternoon ! I hope you are well. First thing is first you are not a doctor, you are not qualified to use a blood pressure monitor nor are you able to tell how accurate your reading actually are as again you are not a doctor. Taking you blood pressure several times a day or a week is not in any way shape or form good for your mental health, you need to detach yourself from obsessing about blood pressure as when you have active anxiety you will have spikes in blood pressure brought on by silly thoughts and doing things like taking your blood pressure.

How many times have you sat there and got a good reading so then you decided to take it again to get a worse one ??? i am guessing everyday.

Dont underestimate exercise, yoga, mindfulness and if you can get some cbt or councelling then please do so! You can only beat this by changing the way you deal with your negative thoughts, moving to a bp monitor everytime you have anxiety is your problem !

You will say thats not the case i feel like my blood pressure is high so i check it ! No you have anxiety so you check it ! Stop please stop ! there is no need for you to have this device its a poison arrow feeding your bad habbits ! Break the habbits and break the cycle

Ive been through the whole bp s**t and its horrible i know !

Anxiety can definitely put negative and fearful thoughts into our mind. It’s good to be aware of that because when you do get a negative thought, you can always remember that. Our negative thoughts are not based on facts.

    So, you’re good to go! . ❤
