      Hi Carol

I'm not gonna lie at first they said I couldn't have one till I was 45yrs old , But the only reason that I got one so early was because it was the hospitals fault I was 11yrs old when I broke my hip by Tripping and landing on my knees I got x-rayed and was told I was fine so I limped about with a broken hip and a dislocated knee for over a year then my dad took me to a different hospital and to a lovely child surgeon bought me in for an emergency operation . If they had of caught it originally I would of have a little operation and would of been back to normally instead I have had 5.operations Including having my hip fused which I don't recommend if they offer your daughter. My scare in 60cms long and my bones was that mashed I had to have the full right side reconstructed and the muscles and tissues attached to my femur with metal Wiring 13 yrs later I still carnt sit up by myself, Tie my laces, run but I'm a lot better then what I was x

My God that is shocking if she has had it all her life surely they can do something about it as it effects quality of life go back and if they say she is to young tell them about me I had a ceramic one fitted one day and they had me on my feet the next I was told it would last 5 to 7 yrs cause at the time I was a pub manager so I was always on the go but so far it has lasted 13yrs and my check up four years ago there was still no ware and rare on it the only downfall is that I'm only allowed one more hip after this one . They may offer to fuse her hip for the pain for now don't let her get it done as they will tell you that it means you carnt use your hip what they don't tell you is that you will have to swing your leg to walk and u carnt even bend your knee worse thing I ever did . I wouldn't let this be and keep at them hope u get it sorted and let me know if you do x

Melissa I'm not a doctor but I think your back pain is a result of your hip problems.  As far as your hip pain that could be from your back or your hip needing some medical attention.  I feel confident in my opinion because I've had hip surgery, spinal fusion surgery and a total hip replacement.  The years of walking incorrect because of hip issues caused me to wear out the discs in my lower back.  You should see your doctor and have x-rays and an MRI to find out what's going on.  Good luck.

I would get it checked right away. The hips only last between 10 and 15 years so it sounds like yours is up for renewal. If you leave you don't know if you are causing more problems. Good luck.

Oh lord, the dreaded back pain, I had THR 8 months ago at 47 and can honestly say my back pain now is worse than my hip pain was then, I think the others are right in that years of walking wonky have done damage to the discs, I'm about to start the ball rolling for an x Ray to see what's going on, in my case I think now I'm finally walking properly and my surgeon has given me extra leg length my back is saying "whooooa hang on a minute I'm not used to this" def get it checked out xx

Oh no how awful for you x what doesn't help me is my job I'm afraid, im a hairdresser and im certain it's the bending and twisting that's not doing me any good, Ive seen a mc timoney chiropractor who says I'm very out of alignment but can't keep spending all the time, if the sciatic nerve is damaged can I ask what sort of pain do you get?ndoes it go down the leg always, I don't have that, just mega lower back pain on the un operated side that leaves me unable to put one foot in front of me or sit

Hi Melissa, Thats great your replacement lasted that long mine lasted 22 years , and like you i started getting back pain and missing alot of work. I finally went to the doctor last year and bone scan test showed loosening of the prothestic so i went ahead and had revision done . I would go get checked out to see if that might be what you need. I waited too long im sorry i did Good luck to you

Hi Melissa, I do think back pain is related to hips as well my doctor said no but the reading i have done says yes . I had horriable back and hip pain last year i waited too long to have my revision . My revision wasnt good outcome because i didnt shop around for doctor who cared and had compassion. I had chronic iinflamation hips and back. Bone scan showed loosening of my first replacement . I would get checked out back pain does have something to do with the hips

You symptoms imply you need to get it evaluated. Actually good don't last that long..It could be a little of both. Best of luck
