Is my penis head normal? Ex-Phimosis sufferer

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hello,

I'm 30 years old, and until about a year and a half ago, had never retracted my foreskin (phimosis). When I realised it was a problem, I did daily stretching until I fixed the issue, as I didn't want to go down the circumcision route if possible.

Over the past few months, I've examined my penis head in great detail (under the foreskin) and was unsure if I suffered from Balanitis. I contacted my doctor over the phone and explained the situation and for the past 7 days I've been using an anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and mild steroid cream. Since using it, the penis head has became much less sensitive which I'm glad about.

Anyway, I was hoping if the community could let me know if the head of my penis looks heathy? Do I have a possible STI or still suffering from a thrush type problem?

I read online, that exposing the head regularly will help with the 'wrinkled' type of look I currently have, so have started doing that from today.

Best regards,

S

It's probably worth mentioning, I've never had an STI check, and I could have possibly had Balanitis most of my life, It took me a long time to be able to touch the head to clean it even after retracting, as it was so sensitive.

It doesn't look like you fixed your phimosis as the foreskin looks tightened in the middle of the shaft (like it's held by rubber bands which creates that central dip). As long as you have phimosis, you'll continue having balanoposthitis. Stretching provides only temporary results and doesn't get rid of it.

      hello,

      thanks for your reply

its still an on going thing i suppose. what i meant by fixed, is i mean i could only see about 10% of the head at one point, where as now i can fully see it.

is there anything you'd reccomend to fix the additional tighness ? ive noticed its slowly starting to come firther back up the shaft the more i retract

i do have a steroid cream to treat phimosis but i havent used that for the best part of a year.

You do not actually specify whether you are or have been sexual active at the moment? Do you regularly wash and fully dry the head and foreskin area of your penis?

The photos suggest the head of your penis is relatively large and there is the potential that the stretches you have dome to your foreskin have not fully resolved the tightness issues you have - and, or, there is an infection or other problem present that is also adding to the problem.

Photo 2 definitely shows there is a likely problem to both glans and foreskin, and it is this that is referred to as Balanoposthitis. Here is detail of the condition from a highly respected source:

    .

Defined as the inflammation of the foreskin and glans in uncircumcised males, balanoposthitis occurs over a wide age range and may have any of multiple bacterial or fungal origins or be caused by contact dermatitides. Complex infections have been well documented, often from a poorly retractile foreskin and poor hygiene that leads to colonization and overgrowth. Treatment focuses on clearing the acute infection and preventing recurrent inflammation/infection through improved hygiene. Although not as necessary as in the past, circumcision may be considered for stubborn or recurrent balanoposthitis. Balanoposthitis should not be confused with balanitis, which is (purely) inflammation of the glans penis, itself

    .

What the doctor recently gave you you should use for at least 14 days and longer if you have been directed to do so.

In terms of what to do I would continue to use the recent medication and get back to the doctor again if you have further concerns - you may need to use the steroid you were recently given for several months if not longer before you can assess the effective impact of it.

Is it one cream you were recently prescribed or are you using several ...... ?

And yes, what you have going on can be due to, or part down to STI / STD issues

thanks again for that reply, very helpful.

im sexually active but with the same partner now for about 18 months, and ny ex was a virgin. 5 years plus before that i was with somebody who slept around. my current partner has no symptoms

the doctor prescribed me one cream for the redness on the foreskin (what you pointed out) which ive been using.

up until about 2 weeks ago i was never drying my glans after cleaning. i only then read it could be causing my problems. i wash every day now and retract , hence no smegma build up.

i recently ordered coconut oil to help with the dryness of the gland and to hopefully stop reoccuring problems.

ill do as you said and use the cream for another 4 days which will take me to roughly 14.

i also didnt realise until you pointed out that i could get my foreskin further back so ive been doing that in the bath. although my foreskin looks tight, im able to get erect with it retracted behind the head with no pain or discomfort.

      thank you

The process that you are currently involved in is to first of all ensure there is no infection present - it would be better if you saw a medical professional in-person to check on this, and they can run tests if necessary.

The steroid cream that you were given for phimosis it is likely that the best approach would have been to continue using it to resolve any remaining tightness issues. It is possible this is out of date now, or is past the time in which it can be opened and still used.

As you say, you may have stopped using it because you presumed wrongly that the head could not be exposed any further.

Essentially, your foreskin in photo 2 simply does not look right. When you were given the phimosis cream did you do stretches on a regular basis ..... ?

yeah i stopped as soon as i was able to retract really.

i did do stretching at the start yes. i was eventually able to go fully over the head comfortably without pain. im now focusing on pulling back further.

even after a few days since using this forum i can see my foreskin coming back further and the rim of the head being exposed.

redness has cleared up quite a bit over the last couple of days

do you think i should be concerned? would you say what i have looks serious? or would my minor imrpovments be okay to keep doing on my own for now?

      regards

So the issue to address is the appearance of the head of your penis in photo 2 - you may need to get this checked by your doctor. Wait until after the 14 days of using the medication.

I would not look to achieve anything of meaning with your foreskin until you have the all-clear that there are no infections present.

Once you have that you can start with the stretching process again from taking it real easy and then build on that in the same way you would do any new gym exercise for example.
