Is my penis head normal or is there something going on?

Hi guys. After I take a shower, my glans always looks very cracked. And it looks like it's almost going to peel, but that never happens. Very quickly, it goes back to normal. Head is never sore, not itchy, not burning, nothing. Can this be some kinda infection or something?

I started running sometime ago, could that be the cause?? I mean, maybe my glans is rubbing too much against clothing? But then it should be sore, no? How should I treat this, or should I do nothing since there is no pain or other feelings? I try to upload some pics, two of them are right after taking a shower, two are some time after.

    Hey Bob

You may need to get a moisturizer and the way your head looks is normal for some men. The tissue is made up of many layers and some are closer together then others.

    Take care....Ken

      Hey Kenneth!

Thank you for replying. Thanks, but I'm not sure if a moisturizer will help. But sure, I will try!

I noticed that I now have a swelling in my meatus. I will upload a pic.

I'm pretty sure that all this is indeed caused by running. I went to run today, and had the cracked/peeling look on my glans after shower and now slightly swollen meatus.

Maybe it's already obivous, but I'm circumcised. I think this is only a problem of circumcised men, no? Any idea how do I prevent this from happening in a future. I mean this can't be good for penis health, and I don't want to lose any more sensitivity 😦.

      Any help would be appreciated.

I think this probably usually affects circumcised men as the operation naturally dries the glans out over time. Remembering that the glans is an internal organ covered by a sheath of skin, so when it becomes external it will naturally dry out, they don't look so shiny as uncircumcised guys. I have seen a few like this though, maybe it is a reaction to a soap or shower gel. Best way to find out is just to clean your penis with warm water only.

      Hey James!

Good points, I think you are right. I keep on putting the moisturizer on the head, stop using shower gel, and wear tighter underwear when doing sports to lessen the rubbing.

      Thank you.
