Is my RA coming back?

I was diagnosed about 20 years ago, put on to methotraxate and have flourished ever since.  There was one shameful episode, caused by overplonking on holiday in France.  That was soon fixed by the rheumatologist.  Methotrexate stopped.  Steroids administered. Methotrexate successfully resumed.

I have been a moderately successful geriatric athlete for a long time.  Despite the RA I won the southern counties half marathon for the 70s age group.  I was then 73.  Now I am 82 and my strength seems to be failing.

I would like to discuss the problem with anyone who can come up with possible explanations.

Unfortunately we are not immortal - with or without RA or any other autoimmune disorder. Age does not come alone - and I suspect you may have to come to terms with that. You have now to compare yourself with other octogenarians, not septugenarians - and really, other octogenarians with RA.

Ken,  it could be the fact that you are almost 10 yrs older that your strength is diminishing but first have you discussed this fact with your doctor and had any blood tests or other testing.      Maybe you are expecting to be able to do what you did 10 yrs ago.   Perhaps you have been over exerting but best to be checked out by your physician.
