I went to my gp in January and got blood tests done. they came back I was anaemic. put on iron tablets. went back to gp few weeks later complaining again about my bowels and she has referred me to try n find out whats wrong. got my bloods done again n im still anaemic even though ive been on iron tablets for 5 weeks. im also waiting on fecal occult results. I bought a home fob test and it was positive so now im even more scared. I haven't seen blood but I have seen mucus. I am constantly tired and feel rubbish. Hi Loush,

Happy Days ahead.  So glad now you have your colonosc. Just one more thing.  It could very well be a sigmoidoscopy.  Article again, but there is talk about the NHS doing sidmoids instead of colonosc.  No difference really except smaller and doesn't go up as far.  But with me they couldn't so that  is why maybe they did the mri so soon.  Most amazing thing though, felt like my son kicking me when I was carrying him.  Still no pain.

Have decided to dump the bed.  Taking too much time ans I wanted it settled before op. Making me ill and should be resting.  I'll call the Heart Found. tomorrow and tell them. My back hurts more now from sleeping in that little bed, too hard.  Feel much better now too, mentally that is.  Spent all day on Fri. just getting info and calling lawyers.  Law Soc. gave me nos. of those that handle consumer issues but on calling they don't, just criminal def. and immigration.  All of them.  Called Law Soc.who gave more and one I called was very nice, took all details and said will take longer than I thought and cost prob. same as bed, better to cut your losses and let it go.  I'm a bit shocked but do agree.  Don't want that hanging over my head now.  Should never have told them I was going in hosp. July and wanted it finished by then.  That has gone to their adv. not mine.

Well, put it down to bad exp.and look forward to peace.  It really is amazing how much better I feel now making that decision.

Got copy letter from Registrar, dated 28/4/14 saying 'we will see her in m,onth to check on her recovery after chemoradio'

      Take care,  Godbless,  Daffs

Hi  John and Susie,  Hope you're well

Yes. Still here. Nothing to report. Lumps are definitely piles and nothing terrible, the boil on my bottom is healing and I shall see an ear person tomorrow. (Pushed a cotton bud in and lost hearing in one ear! Silly boy!) Great to see you are both progressing. Loush, really pleased for you about getting the colonoscopy done. And Daffs, peace of mind and no hassles will help you physically too somehow. Keep up the good work. smile

      Good morning John,

Nice to hear from you.  Sorry you're not well.  Everything happens at once. I can't use cotton buds for that reason.

Sunny today but not that very hot, so up to the lot.  Wish that fox didn't dig up where I've just made beds for sowing (organic fertilizer of fish, blood and bone).

Will your ear heal, hope so.  Wish you well soon.

      Take care,  Godbless,  Daffs

Good night from me. Yes, I've had a bad run lately. Getting old! The ear should be ok, I don't think there is an infection. I envy your Summer weather. I have a veg patch at the back of the house. Quiet time now of course, just waiting for the broccoli etc to get on with it. No foxes! Just the cat from next door. Have a good day. John.

Hi John,  I'm 70 how old are you.  Thought you had said somewhere in late 50s.  Keep the cats off, pee can be deadly.  Now we have fox don't get cats, which is good but have to cover everything over.  Dug up my tomatoe plants for the fertilizer.  Up there yest. from 12 to 5 and did practically nothing with heat and humidity.  Yet this am from 7.30 to 9.30, did loads.  Speaks for itself.  Have a patch for corn and don't think I'll have plants.  Can't think of anything else to put in.  Winter cab. maybe, or more squash.  Any ideas.  Everyone is going on hols. now.  Can't ask you though.  Did you go away last sum would be more like it.  I had an ear infection, gave me drops and is ok now.  Heart Found. are picking up my 'much hated mattress' on Wed.  John Lewis takes 1 wk. for del., so fingers crossed it will be a good one.  Can't really tell now until slept on it for one night.  Take care yourself.  Godbless,  Daffs

Hi Daffs. I can't stand hot humid weather either. I was born much further north in Auckland where it can be like that, but down South it is much more pleasant. A little too cold for tomatoes even in Summer, but I have a small greenhouse so grow two or three in there. Can't think of anything you could grow apart from the usual lettuce and summery things. Courgettes maybe, but they spread around a bit. Can't really go away much for holidays unless you go overseas or visit different parts of NZ. Quite isolated down here, it takes about 3 hours to fly to Australia. Had my ears cleaned out this morning using a vacuum pipe. Noisy but very effective. No infection. The hernia is a nuisance but I just pull on my corset each morning and it's not too bad. Gives me a small pot belly look though and I'm not that heavy, about 85 kg. Was over 100 about 5 years ago. Went down to 78 in hospital! You will need a calculator to change to stones and pounds! Or google it would be easier. I still think in miles etc sometimes but it's all metric over here. I'm not in my late 50's, I wish! 68 and a half now and semi retired. I keep active with work as a tour guide in the local chocolate factory. Good fun and physically quite tiring. Hope you get your bed sorted out and don't have to sleep on the floor while you're waiting. Lunch time, bye.

      Hi John,

Just checking out your weight.  85 kg is about 13 1/2 st.  I don't know how tall you are.  That would make a diff. you could be tall and slight, which is OK.  I think the most important part is, how do you feel. You're obviousely not eating the chocolate!  Knew an old man in his 80s at the lot.  Retired Prof. of sicklecell.  He had op for hernia and says he wished he hadn't as now he has to tie himself in, so to speak.  But you'll understand.  He preferred to be skinny and his wife.  I really don't know what to put in, in place of corn.  I think more squash as that's all I have really.  Too humid today, so didn't stay.  Plan and I say plan, to go up early in morning.  In a bit of a dilemma here.  Got ltr. today for MRI scan next Tues. 17th.  I'm finally convinced the longer you wait after chemoradio for the op., is better, within 3 mos., that is.  Even surgeon said 8 wks then 10 wks (which I thought was good).  But now, after only 6 wks for the scan.  Well, I know they wont wait another 4 wks and take another scan.  Worried op may be too early.  Am a bit scared about op. now too, that it's in my face.  Short notice.  Heart Found. picked up the horrid bed, although I could have cried.  Looks nice, but don't sleep on it.  New one will come next Tues. 17th but early am.  Think I better call Spec. Nurse first thing.  I'll have to get that lot sorted properly before this op too. You seem so peaceful down there.  But I guess when something strikes, doesn't matter where you live.  Take care yourself.  Daffs

Hi Daffs. About 5' 9". The various charts say that is overweight or even obese, but I don't really feel it. I blame the hernia for the bulge in front! It will have to be fixed. Good really that things are moving for you with scans etc. mine was called a CT scan which showed everything, including another small hernia and even small gallstones. But nobody's bothered about those. You are bound to be nervous about the op, but have to trust everyone. But as you do, keep asking questions!

The lot seems to be doing well? Hope there is someone who can look after it while you recover. My neighbours were very helpful with watering etc. And they could help themselves of course.

Hope you have a bed to sleep on while waiting for the new one!

Yes, NZ is a peaceful place usually, especially where I live. There are only 100,000 people and 20,000 students as well for part of the year, but it is the 4th biggest city in the country. I think.

Lunch time again. Take care. J.

Hi John,  Thanks for your words of wisdom and support.  I spent nearly all day on the phone trying to get the Spec. Nurse.  In all fairness, she is busy with staff cuts.  I spoke to the MRI sect. to find out who requested it and of course, the Reg.  He made a blunder before saying I didn't need the radiotherapy and could go straight to the op. and the radio was cancelled.  This was April. Surgeon thought otherwise.  The scaning unit also said I have another scan CT, for 26 June. which puts it back a week.  Uusually when I have the scans they do the CT and then MRI few days later. Nurse did call but said the 6 wk wait is "what they do, this is the way they do it". Following wk, or few days, drs will meet to discuss.  Then few days I will meet drs. and I'll get a date for surgery.  I asked her if they did MRI after only 6 wks would they do another just before surgery.  At least so surgeon will have better view as to what he has ahead of him.  But no, she said, just the one scan now.  This is a bit confusing as it was the surgeon who said it would be better for him if we left it for the max. time to wait of 12 wks.  Chemo and radio still work up to then. I CAN JUST RAMBLE ON.  But outcome is I told her I would prefer not to rush through to get full benefit and prefer 10 wks from radio to surgery. She will try to get MRI put back to around time of CT.  Then, hopefully they will dilly dally with the meetings, etc. It could be end July. I had to cancel apnt to pick up new glasses today and apnt for hair cut.  Went to lot at 6 this morning but left at 8.30, too hot and had to call hosp. I've been sleeping in my Mum's old room and bed.  Very good mattress but only sdingle and I like bigger bed, handy for when the kids come over. Now I have that other matt. gone, I've put the single matt. on top of the base of the double and it works, I can sleep in my own room now until the other one comes.  Everything is popping up at the lot. I've heard of people having gallstones out by suction, keyhole I suppose.  I really can't imagine 13 st to be too big. England does have a problem with it's obese, though.  I'm going to bed now. Nighty night.  Daffs

Hi Loush,  Just thought you might be a bit nervous about the upcoming colonoscopy.  You're not, are you, strange feeling but not painful.

Everything is happening on 17th.  Remember friend who has verticulitis.  She has her pre op assessment on 17th. and I WAS going for a MRI but now that's cancelled and a new one to come for around time of CT 26/6.  My new bed comes on 17th too.  Hope it's good one. Feel much better now I've got that off mind.  Bit of shock though, think it's too early for MRI.  That can only mean op to follow and at that hosp. they don't wait 2 wks for drs meeting, then 2 wks for my meeting, etc. Don't mess around (which is what I want them to do), mess around that is. The longer it takes the better.  But as things are now will probably have op middle/end July. Can't believe time has just flown past. Probably because all I could think of was the bed. So glad it's over. Cooler today and I should be up at lot but have so many other things to do.  I want to give house good clean.  Sounds bad, but I'm not as strong now.  Have to go to Opticians that I cancelled while waiting for hosp to return my call.  I'll close, good luck next Tues. Let us know!  Love  Daffs

      hi Daffs,

im not nervous at all will just be glad when its all over and i will finally get some answers(hopefully some good answers) so fingers crossed smile.

Hope you have more luck and better sleeps with your new bed.  You've really had it bad with the other bed.

i thought you would want docs not to mess about. The sooner you have mri and op means you will be recovered quicker and then hopefully some good news for yourself.

i will come back on Tuesday evening and let you now how i get on at the hospital.

      Love and prayers Loush xx

Hi again Loush,  No, no.  Apparently chemo and radiation both continue working after your treatment is finished, up to 12 wks.  People waiting that long, or just within 12 wks, have a better chance of killing off the cancer.  That makes it easier for the surgeon to get it all and my recovery.  After my treatment I was eager to get the scans and see what it had done.  But hopefully the waiting will be worth it.

Got my reading glasses yest. and they are no good either.  He said he was going to make the distance long so I wouldn't have to bend forward to read.  But it's only about a ft. and I can't even see the screen. Everything else is going good.  Cleaning house and cleaning lot.

Good wishes for next Tues.  Daffs
