Hi Sam,I have proctosigmoiditis and was diagnosed two years ago. Yes had cramps from day one,at least twice a week and tried everything to stop them. Thought it may be food intolerance but nothing I've tried has worked. Went gluten free, gave up coffee, gave up sugar,no lactose, no onions, garlic etc etc etc. Consultant can't give me answer on why I get pain,in remission or flare...makes no difference the pain keeps coming. Pain can last all day or few hours, low down below belly button.. Is yours the same? So draining and always thinking the pain is coming. Only thing that touches it is co codamol, they don't seem to have any answers x

The cramping just seems all over if I have a cup of tea or coffee it's game over and I'm straight upstairs in the toilet, I had a swig of my mineral water and that seems to start the cramps for some reason.

I've tried paracetamol hot water bottles nothing worked all night.

I had to ring my mum to take my daughter to school cause the cramps started up and I couldn't get off toilet In pain.

The thing That will put me on an even bigger downer is the change In diet I love spicy food steaks potato cheese chocolate and red wine, it's the only joy I have left as single parent never go out don't really speak or see anyone anymore so the only thing j look forward to at the weekend is a lovely meal with red wine without that I will just be sitting In doors drinking water cause everything I love to eat in my diet apparently I shouldn't be eating

Hi Sam,I've tried not eating all the things you mentioned..doesn't seem to make any difference. Tried probiotics which helped for two weeks then pains again. Consultant suggested paracetamol for pain and I laughed... doesn't touch it. If you have diarhoah co codamol helps control that too but don't take too many. I rarely have diarhoah so cramps arnt related to that. Microwave heat pads help a little. Is your pain like period pains? X

Started off like period pains but I'm on the pill so I've never really experienced period pains, it just reminds me of contraction pain but I never found my contractions that horrendous.

I can't take cocodamol makes me feel like I'm off my head I seem to have reactions to most meds lol

This mild form of colitis which I keep getting told is what I have is stopping me from being a fully functioning g parent I'm here on my own 2 kids under 6 it's delay in school runs and leaving the house cause I either need to go to the toilet or I'm in pain not sure how much more I can take I'm used to being high pace rush rush rush sticking to routines and schedules etc it's doing my head in being so slow

I know Sam,I seem to spend my time just waiting for pain to strike. I am ok with one 8/500 co codaamol but try not to take them too often. I would go back to your consultant and explain how much this pain is affecting your life and see if he can give you something? Buscopan used to help a little also Dicycloverine/Bentyl. Think I've tried them all, good luck, keep in touch x
