I would recommend depending on how long you've been on the medication that you ride it out and wait for the chemical to balance out itself. I was also on 100mg. I can't stress enough to anyone considering taking sertraline that on each increase/decrease/first start out of the dosage there will be tuns of side effects. Overall I wouldn't recommend this medicine at all.
I reduced my dose from 100mg to 50mg for 2 weeks then went down to 25mg for another week and half. Each decrease I felt extremely anxious & most anxiety symptoms, flu like symptoms (achey muscles), no energy, head aches, shakiness & generally short of breath.
I've now been clear from sertraline for 10 days now and still have my moments, but I've read up and it roughly
takes around 3 weeks for it to completely leave your system...I cannot wait! My anxious horrible moments due to the decrease and stopping of sertraline, the more days that pass, are slowly getting further between each other and will hopefully completely end! Overall, I wouldn't recommend this medicine. Or if you feel you want to give this medicine a go then please do your research before as my GP just shoved sertraline at me and let me get on with it, no information given.
If your also finding it difficult like you've said with sleeping, although I'd recommend riding it out for the chemical to balance out itself, my friend who also was on this medicine and several others went to the doctor and demanded they give her something to help with the lack of sleep...they perscribed her diazepam...she said it helped her a lot to carm down, relax and send her off to sleep, how ever this drug is highly addictive.

forgot to add,all my life i have been against medication even annadin i never wanted to take, 52 years on and since april this year i have had to rely on sertraline cause i couldn't get by this without it.for sleep i did try the nytol but i didnt feel it was working much at all, you can take these pills while on sertraline, sertraline for me changed my life, it did take around 6 weeks and the start weeks are awefull but it is worth the efort to keep up with them, not everyone is the same however. they class 50mg as the tester dose basically to see how you are on them , then after a period of time 2 - 4 weeks many docs want to see you on a higher dose, i went from 50mg after 4 weeks onto 75mg and then onto 100mg and now feel fine most of the times maybe a bad day once a week, and yet in the beggining i didn't want to wake up it was that bad.you will get there, insomnia is awefull at first but once i started to venture into our garden and make more of an effort i started to slowly recover.now my sleeping is coming back to normal, take care

yep your doc maybe says 100mg to start with because you have been on the other meds and you may not have the symptoms some others suffer , but each med as it's own set of rules dam things, good luck with your recovery.
