Hi all, I'm suffering from Barrett's oesophagus and reflux just wondering would pasta or rice aggregate digestive problems?

I don’t think so , the only thing avoiding these 2 is you will lose weight and that’s good for you ., now if you are intolerant to  gluten try to find gluten free pasta .

Thank you I don't think I'm gluten intolerant but I will try the pasta and see how it goes. Thanks again.

Well, it really depends on what you believe is the root cause of your reflux.  Some believe hard to digest carbohydrates cause gas to form in the intestines which causes indigestion and reflux as it pushes its way back up through the stomach.  If you believe that, then you absolutely want to avoid pasta and might avoid certain types of rice (the easiest and quickest to digest is Jasmine, btw).  But if you don't buy that theory and instead go with the "bland" or "low fat" theories for avoiding reflux, then pasta and rice shouldn't cause many problems.  As Jluis mentioned, food intolerances can also cause reflux, so it might not be either of the above, but instead a specific ingredient.  I think you basically have to keep your foods basic and track what seems to bother you until you nail down your specific causes.  Good luck!
