is pituitary gland real cause of bad health

I have been dealing with hypothyroid issues for 12 years. had thyroid radiated. so I have no thyroid. but for 12 years I have been almost home bound. the fatigue and brain fog is severe. have several migraines a month. my thyroid levels have never been in normal range in the 12 years. I had adrenal glands tested for 1st time almost 2 years ago. they were almost shut down. it has taken almost 2 years to get them on track to healing and functioning normal. but I am still just as severe with fatigue and brain fog and migraines. had a friend mention thyroid works with pituitary gland. should I have it tested? would love some answers.

I hope you were given Thyroxin or equivalent to replace the hormone which must now be non-existent from the radiation.

It would be best to get any problems there eliminated. I had severe hormonal problems for 6 years - no-one thought to test pituitary gland hormones until a totally different dr sent me to an endocrinologist and voila! a tumour on the pit gland producing excess prolactin which was making my oestrogen totally ineffective.

I don't know if a gp can request pit gland tests - they might be able to. If one or two hormones are high, an endocrinologist would be required to request an MRI.

Also ask your gp for an Iron Studies test to check if your ferritin iron is greater than 200 and your TS% is greater than 40%. Iron overload can cause same problems - often ignored.
