is rash and itching a prednisone withdrawal sympton?

I hvae rteached 2.5mg/day of prednisone after 2 1/2 year of following the dead slow method. Thank you to all who coontributed to that method. I have now moved to 2 mg/day but during this move I started having random spots of itching mainly hands  and feet with no signs of a rash. No signs of PMR pain. Then went to my regular DR. and she did all the blood tests and everything came back normal. ( No liver, kidney or other disorder signs.) She suggested taking benadryl. The itching has lessened a little but now I break out in weird rashes in random spots on my body. Sometimes lines and sometimes small or large splotches like hives. They usually don't itch and go away within 30 minutes.

It is driving me crazy and I wonder about an allergy but also attribute anything weird to the prednisone . Has anyone else experienced anything like this as a prednisone withdrawal sympton.

Thanks,

Dave

i’m experiencing itching and a rash (red and marks on my body that look like scratches) over my entire body. This started days after I tapered off methprednisolone dose pack. Its going on for two weeks. . The itching comes and goes. I have kept my skin moisturized and that does not help. I have found relief in the following things: Benadryl, zinc, anti-itch concentrated lotion by Aveeno , and calamine lotion. Also, I noticed I itch more after showering really intense or going outside in the sun . I have an an appointment with my doctor soon so hopefully I can get something to resolve this.

I had this symptom before any other, in fact I thought It was weird bug bites. I worked in a garden + it was September, so new plants/new bugs. Anyway, it went away until May, then went completely bananas! My body was covered-so embarrassing! 9 dermatologists at Penn didn't know what it was. I had all the tests, scrapings, etc. I felt I would go insane from the intense itching! I thought it was scabies or some other gross thing, I never itched like this-it felt like something trying to get OUT from under my skin-and as soon as I scratched it open, the itching stopped. I have scars all over my body bc no one knew what it was. Then I found Dr. Susan Hoch, miracle worker. She told me about side effects of some auto immune diseases, one being this. 25mg doxepin later and voila! It stopped. It has a few uses, but at 25mg, its an antihistamine (like no other). I hope this helps. Its the ONLY thing that works for this type of itch/rash, whatever they want to all it.
