Is Sertaline slower-acting than Escitalopram, I feel no difference yet.

How have you found Sertaline (Zoloft) 50mg, I switched from Escitalopram (Lexapro) on Tuesday after being on it for 2 months? I felt nausea at the beginning, gladly that is no longer a problem. Sleeping is unsettled but I am not certain that is medication-related. I ask because during my first week on Escitalopram I noticed a huge reduction in my anxiety instantly, however it doesn't seem to be the case with Sertaline. Is it working? The only benefit was I felt calmer for 2 days. I know I need to give it time but the Escitalopram worked so quickly.

I'd love to know your thoughts.

I've had to go up to 200 mg but I'm currently suffering from severe OCD.  Sometimes you have to wait a couple of months at the top dose before you see an improvement with that condition.  I do have good and bad days but keeping busy and seeing friends/family is the best therapy.

Yes Tim it is a slow acting med, takes awhile for it to kick in. Also most people will get high anxiety and other side effects before feeling better. Go figure why it works that way but it does. Good luck, hope u feel better soon.

Is it really? I didn't know that. I assume it has something to do with the fact, that Escitalopgram is a newer AD. I was hoping to get back to work at the end of the week too. The Dr does thinks I may notice a therputic effect at the end of the week. Have you used Sertaline?

Yes,I'm on 100. But since u were on Lexapro might make a difference. I'm alittle confused. Are u on zoloft?

Sorry! No. I was on Lexapro, I am now on Zoloft and I am noticing it is very slow-acting.

Yes indeed, was on 50 for 4 months, now on 100, going through some side effects again. But will continue since i had good results on 50 but needed alittle higher dose. Good luck. You will see improvement. 😎

How long did it take you to feel better? The last thing I want is a slow-acting AD. The Escitalopram worked so well, until it stopped sad

My sleep improved within 2 weeks, my anxiety was maybe 5 weeks, but I would take ativan for panic when needed. I started to feel like my old self again around the same time 5 weeks. Don't get me wrong i do have bad days occasionally but more good days. Everyone is different, what works for one person might not work for another. I think it all depends on your anxiety or depression level. Mine was super bad, accumulated over years of stress and anxiety. This was the first SSRI that i have ever taken. So i was like a babe in the woods. But this forum helped me so much, just knowing that i am not alone. I have heard of people that have been taking zoloft for years . There are some side effects that are rather difficult but just knowing that they will go away is comforting. So listen to your doctor and if anything bothers you let him know. 😎

I see. I'm pleased it has worked for you. Anxiety is my biggest problem, social anxiety especially. It's so annoying because the Escitalopgram subsided my anxiety within a week. It was great. I guess it's not the same with this one.
