Is something wrong with my cervix?!

I recently discovered that I can fit a finger inside the opening of my cervix, and after browsing the internet for a while i really dont think this is normal!

I'm 18 years old, sexually active but have never given birth, so why is this possible?

Its worrying me because I am on the pill, and i know that part of how the pill works is by thickening cervical mucus, but if i can fit a finger in there then surely any sperm could enter easily even with the thickened mucus.

I'm probably overthinking but any advice is appreciated!!

The cervix is normally "open" at ovulation time, but not enough to insert your finger. Yes,the contraceptive pill thickens cervical mucus but mainly it stops release of an egg from your ovaries,so if you take it correctly, you wont get pregnant.

The cervix is shaped like a donut so you will feel a dip in the middle. This is the outer part of the cervix and there is a narrow channel to the inner part of the cervix. This also relaxes to allow for menstruation.

If you are concerned, perhaps a visit to your doctor or practice nurse would put your mind at rest.
