Is the sertraline doing this to me???

Posted , 4 users are following.

I'm on day 8 of sertraline (4 days at 25mg, today is 4th day of 50mg).. I've been given this for my health anxiety. I've been trying not to read up on this but when I'm at my worst it seems to help get me through.. My side effects have been, slight insomnia, heightened anxiety (occasionally), terrible nausea and loss of appetite.. I've thought I've been quite lucky with these after reading some really bad experiences and each day they have seemed to lessen. This morning I wasn't heaving with nausea and the past 2 nights I've managed a whole 6/7 hours sleep without waking. Today I've taken my tablet as normal at 7am and as it's the weekend I thought I'd try and catch up on some of the sleep I missed out on in the week.. I had a good 2hr sleep but have since woke up with the worst back ache.. My health anxiety issues have never really included back ache but now this has added to my list, is it my kidneys failing, my hands are shaking and my legs are tingling.. My mind is all over the place.. Has anybody got any positives on this please cause I can only get negatives??

    Hi Claire,

All these side effects will pass. You must give it time.  I was worse when I first went on them b ut after a few weeks the anxiety will start to lessen. Please don't give up. It's horrible I know but PLEASE bear with it. It will get better I promise.xx Take care xx

Hi Claire. Starting on this drug is awful...but it's temporary, the side effects will end soon, but it will take some time. Try to get through each day, you will get there. Xo

Hi Claire, I'm currently on sertaline and when I started it I had bad side effects. They started to ease after about 1-2weeks. My doctor said that it would get worse before it gets better so hang in there. You'll start to have good days in between. Stay positive you'll get there and if you need to chat I'm here xxx
