Is there a difference between a Nephrologist and a Urologist?

At present am seeing a urologist,but note on these posts that some are seeing a nephrologist. What is the difference?

    Urology refers to the whole urinary system. Nephrology concentrates on the kidneys.

      Thank you Pepasan. I have had kidney trouble for over 40 years and always been referred to, and had  treatment from urologists. However, present symptoms are different and I think,after reading some of these posts, that I need to be referred to a nephrologist.

      I would agree with your comments; if your problems are related specifically to your kidneys it would be good to see a nephrologist.
