Is this a cruel joke?

Diagnosed at my last gyno visit a few months ago. She told me it was "no big deal" and she had plenty of patients with it. Just recently noticed the "shrinkage." After reading about this disorder, I'm feeling very down and very sorry for myself. Honestly, I've lived a pretty healthy life and this seems like a particularly crappy thing to have to deal with since there are very few people I will even tell about it. I'm sure you guys have been through this phase, but I am at the beginning of this journey and feeling bewildered and sad. Thanks for listening

Hi butterfly, to be told that this is no big deal is wrong in my opinion. It is a big deal, it's a s****y deal, but it's not the end of happiness as you know it. What you have to do is become informed, by reading as much as you can online. This will help you enormously because what you will find is that the docs and specialists arent always that well informed on the subject.
There is no denying that when someone has first been diagnosed it shakes you to your core, and it takes some time to overcome the feeling of shock and anxiety. Usually, when people are first diagnosed they have to deal not only with the shock but they are often struggling to get their LS under control. Once you have managed that, and understand how to live with this condition things will become much better for you, and clearer.
Many of the women on this site manage their LS, but at first its frightening and overwhelming. You too will get to that place but it doesn't happen overnight.
We are here for you and more than happy to help with any questions that you may have.
