Is this a gallbladder issue?

hi all, I'd love to hear from people with some experience . I've had some right sided pain on and off now for a few years. it's mainly just under my ribs on my right hand side and feels very much like stitch or like theres trapped wind under the rib cage. it sometimes means I feel pain in my back around the same area and slightly up to under my shoulder blade. I have been to the doctors on and off for the last couple of years and have had full blood tests done as well as a urine dip test (they were thinking kidneys) and a kidney and liver function test. these tests have all come back perfect but by the time I've had that done the problems gone away so they've put it down to something muscular even though it doesn't feel like that at all. it normally comes on and off for a few days or weeks at a time but can disappear for months in between. does this sound like something gallbladder related? I'm wondering if I have been having gallbladder issues on and off so if that could be the case I'll mention it to the doctor at my next appointment. also, are there any things I can do to help it?

Yes, it sounds like it could be but the only way to know is have your gallbladder imaged to see if there are stones. You could also have a low functioning gallbladder and I believe you'd need a HIDA scan to detect that. It's certainly worth mentioning to your doctor.

    I think it's worth mentioning

    silly Dr

he should have suggested an ultrasou d on your stomach or a CT SCAN only way to find out

YES, you need an ultrasound and a HIDA scan to see how your gallbladder is functioning. I had intermittent pain and it was due to an inflamed gallbladder and a "kinky" bile duct. There were no gallstones.

I used to get gallbladder attacks when I eat too much fat about two in the morning I wake up doubled over in pain for a couple of hours.

Then,I tried apple cider vinegar. Take a few tablespoons and dilute it with water. I would hold my nose and down the hatch we would go. The pain subsided in about 20 minutes. Now I take it every day in pill form and have never since had one of those attacks. I also sense it reduces bloat and helps in losing weight.

where do you get the vinegar pills?

I dont suppose you know if these would cause issues for people with acid reflux (like me). I was wondering if the vinegar might be a problem but if not I'd give them a try

I have exactly the same symptoms as you! My doctor hasn't even mentioned gallbladder. I've had hormones, IBS, hiatus hernia mentioned and this is exactly what I am going through. It can flare up with these symptoms for weeks on end and then disappear for months on end. I am trying to lose weight and correct my diet to see if this helps. I have just started taking turmeric tablets which seem to help. I would be wary myself taking cider vinegar as I get heartburn?

I also have issues with bloating when this "flares" - do you?

interesting! I also get bloating and get gassy plus I also have acid reflux. I've heard apple cider vinegar can help acid reflux (apparently it's an alkaline not an acid which surprised me). I might give it a try and see if it helps. I've got an appointment in just over a week to see the doctor so I might mention the gallbladder and I'll try and remember to post an update to you to let you know what they say.

Well I will be very interested to see what your doctor makes of the symptoms. Im sick to the back teeth of it all. Todays ailment is a dull ache in my right shoulder blade which again could be gallbladder. I hope you get somewhere.
