Is this a herpes blister or ingrown hair?

Posted , 5 users are following.

I'm 19 and have has sex two times with two different people (both with a condom). The first time was in september and the second january of the new year. I've given a b*****b 3-4 times (again with the same two guys but no condoms this time). I've  been tested for STIs three times (I get anxious a lot whenever my discharge changes) and everytime I've been negative. However, I found this blister at the end of may and it was painful. It lasted about 5 days before I popped it and from what I can remember, white puss came out. I assumed it was just an ingrown hair. This was during exam season so I was really busy and didn't even think of going to the GP about it but now I'm paranoid that it may have been my first herpes outbreak? Any help is really appreciated because I'm very stressed right now.

This definitely doesn’t look like herpes and you really are in the low risk group. I know herpes manifests itself different in every one, some people get one single bump like you say yourself but it seems more like a pimple or an ingrown hair rather than herpes. Did it ulcerate or scab over? Us on here can’t tell you for sure, the best thing for you to do is to go get tested. Good luck and hopefully everything is okay!

Thank you very much for the reply! My memory about it is very fuzzy because it really was the last thing on my mind at the time but I don't think it ulcerated. Would you recommend getting a blood test (I've read this is not always reliable for distinguishing between hsv1 from a previous cold sore and hsv2 from genital herpes) or waiting to see if anyother blister appears and getting it swabbed?

Okay, since it never ulcerated as you can recall I wouldn’t say it’s herpes. But I would go ahead and get a blood test done just for your peace of mind since it seems you’re very worried about it. I assure you though, I really don’t think this is herpes at all.
