Is this a penile adhesion, or a skin bridge?

Posted , 5 users are following.

I'm 24, and had sex for the first time in quite a while and had some pain during and after. I had a close look after and noticed it was because I can't quite fully retract my foreskin the whole way due to the foreskin being attached to the glans.

After looking online a bit I'm not sure if what I have is an adhesion or a skin bridge. I'd love to try and fix this by myself with stretching and cream if possible, but if it's a skin bridge, that requires a doctor to fix, right?

I noticed after sex, and after masturbation if I go a bit too hard, the area where it connects looks slightly cut and causes pain.

Thanks for the help/advice! !

    Dear Ricky,

You have a condition known as frenulum breve and here is an excellent NHS leaflet describing a plastic surgical procedure known as a frenuloplasty: https://www.dgft.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Lengthening-of-the-penile-frenulum-frenuloplasty-V2.pdf

It's probably sensible to check in with a urologist to discuss non-surgical treatment/s but in most cases the only effective treatment is either a full circumcision or frenuloplasty (above).

    Rgds,

    Adhari

      Hi Adhari,

Thanks for the reply. My images might have been a bit confusing as they are so up close. My frenulum isn't visible in any of the photos. Perhaps you you mistook the connection between the glans and foreskin as the frenulum?

Correction: It is slightly visible in the first and third image.

      OK, understood- my apologies.

Looks like you've got adhesions. So you've previously been able to retract the foreskin fully, but not any more? Do you suffer from recurrent inflammation of the glans penis (balanitis)? If you do, it could be a post-inflammatory phenomenon. There's no easy or completely pain-free way of dealing with this- you'll need to see a urologist who might be able to administer a local anaesthetic either as cream or an injection.

      Rgds,

      Adhari.

I think you're onto something. I believe I may have had mild balinitis in the past. Looks like I'll be seeing a urologist. Do you think there is any of getting rid of the adhesion non surgically?

This could be a case of how do you define the difference between a skin bridge and an adhesion?!

I would suggest we call this an adhesion: I have a one across the entire lower part of my glans / head of my penis where the foreskin did not separate from the head itself. And yes, when I go at it a bit hard the area could be described as looking cut and is slightly painful.

Additionally yes, the only way to fix this would be minor surgery.

You could try stretching, but it is most likely if the adhesion was to break free itself it would have done it by now.

The best time to stretch is during a warm shower - get to know how far you can draw your skin down toward the base of your penis before you experience any pain. Through doing the stretches regularly you should be able to apply a very slight increment in the pressure or force you apply to hold it at the base of your penis. You need to do this over a period of months, rather than days or even weeks.

One other stretch you could try is to get a hold of your foreskin and draw it forward as far as you can - as with any stretching, it is about the time you hold the stretch, and the repetitions you do - increase the repetitions slowly, ad in one or 2 more over a period of a week.

The more you do this without causing distress to the skin on the head of your penis and the foreskin itself - the more suppleness, elasticity and resilience the skin will develop - in time, you may be able to have more forceful sex or masturbation without causing distress to the area.

However, no matter what you do, if the area is constantly in distress the surgery would be the only way to resolve this ......

Okay I can certainly help you with this.

As you have posted on someone else's original Forum Post and this was last active some 7 months ago you need to start your own Forum Post, easiest thing to do is to use the "New Discussion" Button below left.

Post the text you have detailed here in this post - if you are over 16YOA you can post photos that show the problem that you are talking about as often this is extremely helpful in advising you, this is NOT essential if you would prefer not to ...

However, I do need to know your age ....... ?

Once you start a New Discussion I will receive an alert and respond to you, usually within 36 hours.
