Is this because of my Hiatus hernia please

Posted , 5 users are following.

As detailed on here before I have following symptons;

-Gnawing stomach pain that is constant 24/7 for 3 years now

-Cramps that get intensly worse immediately after eating

-Bloating

-Lower abdominal noises, get worse at night, and feels like my bowel/intestines are dead, don't do anything (no movement)

-pain is worse immediately after eating

-pain is worse after bowel movement

-only 2 bowel movements a week, but they are normal

After every test on the NHS, they came back with no firm diagnosis, however i was diagnosed with a small Hiatus Hernia

Slight pancreatis a while ago also

Could all of this be because of my Hiatus Hernia and if so would operating on it fix this?

I'm just fed up, no pain relief or antispasmodic works, nothing works and I'm truely at the point of giving up

Don't want to get surgery on repairing it if it is not going to do anything

I don't get GERD or acid refux, my pain is in same spot but could be a rolling hernia which is in a different part

Please any help or advice

Hi John, I would say that your symptoms are related to the hiatus hernia as match my symptoms before I had mine fixed. You are quite lucky to not have GERD and hope that continues to be the case. My doctor was reluctant to refer me for surgery whilst mine was small and only did when the reflux that I had throughout  got to the point where I couldn't even bend forward or sleep laying down without getting it. The only things that the op (done 2 years ago) hasn't cured for me are the very loud abdo noises (as you say are especially loud at night when laying down) and there are still certain foods I have to avoid due to the long terms effects of GERD. Get it sorted soon if possible. Good luck.

    Hi, John:

In my experience, I would say it is the hiatal hernia.  two years ago I started having terrible pains on the left side of my chest, under my rib cage.  I had to go to the ER by ambulance. They ran all kinds of tests and they told me that I had a HUGE hiatal hernia, in other words a large hole where gas and probably everything else seeps through.  At my age they didn't recommend surgery, as I have lost five inches of height due to spinal problems and all my organs are too close together.

Every day after eating, my stomach growls and gurgles and totally makes me miserable.  I take an anti-spasmotic and it does help with the pain, but the gurgling just keeps on coming.  I am getting to where I dread to eat anything.  When I do eat, I get full after about two bites of food.  I have lost some weight, which is ok with me, but I am miserable most of the time.  Please ask you doctor about having it repaired if you can, and don't suffer like I do each and every day....Hope this helps, sweetie.....HUGS.
