Is this depression?

Lately I've been feeling really down. Not just normal down, like, nothing really excites me anymore down. It's only been a few days since this started, but I am wondering. It goes away for a little while at times, but I've just felt like everybody is bringing me down. Even the music I used to listen to doesn't excite me anymore. I'm just down all the time. Nothing really makes me happy, I just don't want to be around anybody. I feel like everybody is wanting me to meet standards that I can't reach. I feel like a failure. Some days it's just kinda like my emotions are rotting away. Am I getting depressed? Or is this some kind of stage that I will go through?

Sorry you are feeling so down.  It is not fun.  I think a few days of feeling down is too soon to be organic depression.  Sometimes we can have situational depression.  I think I heard in your post that the people around you are bringing you down and expecting you be someone you cannot or do not want to be.  Perhaps a change of company is in order?  Or take a break from those people?  If it is family making you feel this way, that is more difficult to pull away from, but you do have the right to do so for your own survival.

I hope things lift up for you soon!

    Take care

Hi I am sorry you are feeling so down..   It is normal to feel like this some of the time and I think everyone does.   The criteria for depression is if these feeling don't go away after a few weeks,  then you could well be depressed.

There are quite a few online depresson tests so why not google them and this might give you a guide.  x

I feel this way today. Nothing is making me happy or excited. Like I just dont care about anything. Maybe we need counseling or to talk to someone.
