Is this ever going to work

I was on fluoxetine for 2 yrs then it started wearing off then I went on sertraline and I went completely off the rails. Now I'm on citalopram it's been 3 weeks & I still have bad thoughts& active ideation. I feel so close to the end and playing around with medication isn't helping. I notice a slight improvement but not much. I'm on 10mg. Will it get better? I'm also 17 so that question is rhetorical.

It's very important to slowly taper off of SSRI's. No more than 5% every 2-4 week's.
The above site is very informative on SSRI's.

Hi there sorry for what you are going through, I'd stick with the citalopram for a while it usually takes up to 4-6 weeks to work also you are only on a low dose....give it time sweetheart , take care x

Hey, while I havent been on SSRI's for too long I do have experience with generalised anxiety and social anxiety which triggered a period of depression I kept to myself for a while. I was started on and am still taking 10mg for the anxiety and after the 2nd week the side effects hit really bad and they were absolutely awful from the nausea to heightened anxiety it was a really tough time.
Just remember though that every improvement no matter how small is still an improvement and no matter how you feel it will always just be temporary as there was and always will be those good days and the medication will help you along the way. Also make sure you entertain the thought of starting therapy such as CBT as it is helpful if not more beneficial than medication as a change in mindset can go a really long way.
Best of luck in your journey,
Kyle

Thanks guys. I've hit the 4 week mark and no improvement, so going to get it increased. Thanks to all your replies. Unfortunately, I ended up in hospital for the 5th time. I really appreciate and I have read all of your replies. I have been in therapy for a while now alongside medication, but there is quite a big imbalance. Hoping it will shift soon! x
