Is this Fibromyalgia

Could anyone help by saying if they think i have fibromyalgia please.

For the past 3 years i struggled with lots of pain and told i have endemetriosis and ibs. I have gone through numerous operations the last one having my ovaries removed to stop my endemetriosis spreading which has helped but not immensily.

My latest sympton is tinging and burning sensation in lots of parts of the body but most often in the front of my legs including my ankles and outsides of my arms. At times my legs and arms have felt weak. I occasionally feel tired and have brain fog but as im in medically induced menopause have put it down to that. My doctor has referred me to neurology which is next month saying she couldnt rule out multiple sclerosis but have read about fibromyalgia and wondered if this is what it could be.

Does fibromyalgia show up on an MRI scan.

I do get terrible back ache aswell but have always put it down to the endo but am now wondering if it isnt really that after all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hi,

I should think after what you have been through in the past few years its highly likely you have Fibro, it is often brought on by stress or a virus, I know someone else who also had op for endo who is now suffering with Fibro, if your GP is unable to diagnose it maybe you need a refferal to a Rheumatologist who knows all the trigger points for Fibro, brain fog pins and needles weakness are all symptoms.

    Good luck.

Hi there. I was also diagnose with Fibro...

I laugh at the term , because basically what the medical professionals have done is created a box for patients with chronic pain . They do not actually what the cause of fibro are. They seem to just diagnose people with firbo so that they are able to give a diagnoses.

If you have this so called fibro you will not be able to pick it up in a MRI.

Simply becuase it is an invisible disease of the nervous system.

They  are basically say that your nervous system cannot interrupt pain. And pain signals are being send to part of your body for no reason.

If in fact you do have this condition . It is safe to say its almost like an incorrect "wiring" of the brain. Which misinterrupts pain signals. And also Amplifies pain signals. For example your friend bumped her toe (out of a scale of 1 to 10) her pain could be 3 , if you have fibro and the same incident occured to you your pain will be an 8 or 9 out of ten!!!

Fibro is considered not degenerative , meaning it does no actual harm to your joints, muslces or tendons. So infact it is not life threatening.

What you do have to keep in mind is possible check ups and regular blood work .

Simply because as I have mentioned before , fibro is a diagnoses of some sort of chronic pain . Meaning that the doctors have not yet been able to find the underlying cause of the pain and have simply and quickly diagnosed you.

Im not sure about pain relief ... I have been on pain relief medication that I have now left because I dont see myself drinking all sorts of pills forever.

so as for pain..... its a factor and its not going anywhere . Until the underlying cause is found and delt with.
