Is this fibromyalgia

Hi, I’ve had severe sciatic pain for a year. No painkillers have helped. I’m constantly tired. My legs both get pain and twitch and spasm. I have pain in my fingers too. Also have had pain in my feet for several years. I suffer from migraines and headaches. I also have had pain in my head like my hairs been pulled really hard. I get sore itchy eyes and a twitch in my left eye. Are these symptoms of fibromyalgia or am I barking up the wrong tree? Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Hi janine1966.

I felt like I was reading a description of how I feel most days. Both my eyes twitch terribly so bad sometimes it effects my vision. My eyes burn so bad that I get gel eye drops (refresh natural tear) so it stays on my eyeballs longer. I also run a humidifier and a vaporizer constantly cuz I’m not sure if it’s cuz of the dry winter air. Anyway, at least for me you did hit SOME of my fibro systems. Lets hope today is better than yesterday and tomorrow is better than today.

      Hi Alicia,

Thanks for replying. My dr keeps telling me ‘it’s just sciatica’ and my other symptoms are just coincidental. I asked her about fibromyalgia and she said no. I asked if I could have an mri and she says it’s not up to her it’s up to the pain clinic to decide and they said no I have to have physio first. I’ve been privately and they’ve not helped at all. I have to now wait for a referral to the physio dept. Hope you’re week gets better.

An MRI wont tell you if you have fibro but it could rule out other things.. thats the issue with fibro. There isnt a test they use anymore, they just rule out other things. I think you need a new doctor because she isnt trying to figure out what is wrong with you! It took my doctors 15 months to diagnose me at first with fibro but that was using the old test and some false positive tests that messed up my diagnosis.

The head stuff is probably unrelated if it is Fibro. The twitching and fatigue were my biggest symptoms early on, also the random pains. My leg spasms were so bad early on that I broke the foot on a metal wheelchair.. this happened during a bad patch where I could barely walk too. I also have cut my hand several times during hand spasms.

As for pain killers, nothing has worked for me. My doctors dont know what to think and my Rhumatologist doesnt think I have fibro at all but has no other ideas. I have been sick for about 15 years now and got my SSI so I think perhaps they have given up =P

Thank you for your help. I hope you find something to ease it soon. It’s frustrating having no diagnosis. I really want to exercise but it just makes everything worse.

heh thats a big thing for me and my doctor is certain the only help for Fibro is exercise... no it makes things worse! It makes me so much more tired, sore and weak! Good luck, you are in the stage where you NEED a doctor on your side, get one fast and insist on tests to figure it out. If its no firbo then perhaps there is a remedy or cure for you.

      Hey VooDooU,

How can you be sure the head thing is unrelated to Fibro. I have been blaming my Chronic Headaches, (i have them 24x7, literally) on fibro. i have had MRI, nerve conduction, CAT scans everything done and there seems to be no reason for them.

Yes, you have to take control of your own care. You pay for it. It took me 4 years and I don’t know how many doctors and specialists before I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and a few other things. It is up to you, if u want an MRI to check for sciatica then demand it! Don’t take no for an answer. I’ve had better luck with specialist then primary doctors.

    Good luck!
