Is this genital herpes? It's very painful! Help!

  • It started on saturday as just a feeling of pulling my hair and an itch
  • Over time it's gone red and it's very painful and a burning sensation
  • It look likes it near the hair shaft so i thought it'd be folliculitis but it's burning and red for 4 days now
  • It's really sore basically.
  • Sores are on my pubic hair
  • Does it look like genital herpes?
  • I have had a cold sore on my lip before
  • I have applied hydrocortisone cream it hasn't really helped, and even keeping the area cleaned hasn't helped.
  • Hence why i have been thinking it's herpes, any opinion would be appreciated thanks.

    Looks like ingrown hair.. can be painful. Doesn't look like herpes to me.

    the only way to know is to get it swabbed, but I really dont see any blisters which is typical for herpes

    This doesn't look like herpes, it's more similar to ingrown hair. If hydrocortisone cream doesn't help, you should ask your doctor for antibiotic pills. Also, try to avoid shaving, scratching, and wearing tight or rough clothes on the infected area. You can get a swab test for sure if you think you have herpes
