Is this Globus...?

Hi There,
I have been having throat issues for the last 8 months which my GP led me to believe was acid reflux. Have since tried loads of remedies none really helping. Last week had an upper endoscopy examining esophagus and stomach and it was absolutely clear... the doctor suggested it might be globus but didn't give me any answers on how to fix it.... So here are the some of the issues I have
1. Tight feeling in throat that comes randomly.
2. Not at all related to eating (doesn't happen after eating) if anything eating/drinking soothes it.
3. Gets worse as the day goes on (never a problem first thing) peaks around 6-7pm.
4. When I get it nothing relieves it. It's not painful just annoying. Always better in the morning.
5. Can be fine for days at a time.
6. Often makes me want to swallow more frequently than normal.
7. When at worst feels like holding back from crying.
When I look into my throat in the mirror, if I can get my tongue low enough I am sure I can see some white/greyish patches down my throat towards the left (where it sometimes feels dry and makes me want to swallow) but I guess the endoscopy should have picked up if this was a problem? Or one of the two gp's that looked into my throat before that.
The only thing I have wondered that could be related is sometimes if I drink a lot of alcohol at the weekend I tend to get this feeling more on a Monday or Tuesday - so 24-48 hours AFTER having any alcohol, which makes me wonder if it can still be related? I never get it when drinking alcohol or shortly after.
I can be a worrier but I don't really have anxiety. I have a stress free job and a relaxed lifestyle so I don't see why this would be stress related.
Anyone have similar issues?
Thanks,
Dani

I too have this like you do. It comes and goes and usually worse at night. I do notice tho if I eat like chili or spaghetti the next day this feeling in the throat bothers me. I look way dwn in my throat with a flashlight and can see like growths or something clise to my epiglottis. Most people do not see there at the glottis but I am one that can. Well my ENT looked at it 3 different times, he put a scope down my throat, and saw nothing that he was concerned of. He kept saying that it was my lingual tonsils. So he said that the acid and most of the time my acid is silent acid but he said that it was this that irritated those lingual tonsils and that that was what was causing this feeling in my throat. I have been to him 3 times now and I really trust this doctor is an ENT but I sure do hope he knows what he is talking about LOL.

Yes. My linguals stay enlarged. Ent just said I had huge ones..I guess that's the norm for me. My glibus is mostly better but I do at times feel the lingual enlarged..and irritated...I just deal with it..I'm done stressing over it..I have to trust that's what it is. It's been so long now and it's not worse..I understand freaking out..I did that for way too long..no more..stress is horrible...take care and try not to worry..I truly blev some of us just have enlarged tonsils..

Yes. They feel raw..alot of times I think spicy food irritates it as well. But mine has been a year of this. I really noticed this when I started suffering from acid reflux. But now that I have that under most control, not as bad with the linguals. I still c thm. Tha are still enlarged, but don't seem to bottler me as bad..now yesterday, as we were texting, they felt raw, but today not so much...hope this helps. You are fine..don't allow fear to rob you of the days we are blessed with.. all good...

This is really interesting as I had some sessions with a chiropractor (for the first time in my life) early this year and it is since then I have felt this problem get worse. I have booked to see her again tomorrow and will explain this situation and see what she can do. It would be amazing if she could fix this (even though she may well have started it...!) I really hope she can help as this has been really bothering me and it would be so good to have an answer! Thanks for the information it could be key to my recovery :-)

Hi, I am not sure the chiropractor was able to help, but I am also not convinced she caused the issue in the first place. I have not seen a chiropractor for 8 months now and I have not really had any further issues with globus. It was there for around 10 months all in but these days I don't notice it any more. It may be that the chiropractor manipulated me wrongly and eventually I righted myself or it may have been something else entirely. I am glad that for the time being at least the feeling has gone. I am not in a rush to see a chiropractor again just in case.
