Does it itch?When are you due to have those stitches removed? That is some hefty incision but as long as that redness around the excision doesnt spread out like a rash it is probably ok. If you are in serous doubt then see your GP .

They are dissolvable stitches but no sign of them going at present. The redness is slightly more today and a couple of areas are oozing ? blood/ serous fluid . Finally managed a doctors appt later today

The wound is long and deep, just give it time. Do not exacerbate the problem and make it worse. The time of healing depends on how you treat the wound, what you do and what you do not do.
