Is this herpes?

Please help. A few days ago I began having a burning sensation on my vaginal area and decided to look down there with a mirror and with a light. There appears to be many tiny skin colored bumps and my skin appears to be red and irritated. I am sexually active and do not always use protection. I fear that this may be herpes, but hopefully not because I recently had sex with my boyfriend without protection and would never forgive my self if I had had an std. I wI'll try to upload pictures once I get onto my computer but if anyone has advice or if this sounds like something please let me know!

U should go see a doctor asap and get it swabbed. It will be a more accurate test that way. If you are newly infected a blood test won't find antibodies. I now have to wait at least 3 months before i can get an acurate test because i didnt go in time for a swab test. Let us know how u make out and as hard as it is pls stay calm.

Thank you for your response. I am very nervous because the day after I began having symptoms my boyfriend said he has started having a cold- which I hear flu like symptoms can occur after catching this so I hope I did not have it without knowing sadI have also started taking my mothers valtrex prescription as she gets cold sores on her mouth every once in awhile and have seen no response after 2 days

This looks exactly like what I had going on. I had redness, itching, irritation and some burning too. I'm thinking it was yeast infection, bc it went away after I used the Monistat 7, but kind of wished I had got a swab test just for piece of mind. I guess if it comes back I'll know. It hasn't been three months since the sexual encounter in question or I'd do the blood test, so have to wait for that. I wouldn't worry too much until you get a confirmation from a dr or test. I saw a gyno and she explained to me that often times with a yeast infection, the skin can get red, irritated and have bumps. As long as you don't see blisters or ulcers, I would think it's bumps associated with the yeast infection. If you end up going to the dr, please let me know what they say. Thanks and I hope it isn't anything more than that!

I will certainly try monistat and see if that helps or irritates it more thanks! So far no blisters or ulcers I do not think!

You didnt mention if you have pain when you urinate , and whether you have flu-like symptoms. Itching and weird skin texture on the mucous membranes are also the early signs.

I hope your lab test come back negative. Good luck .

I do not have any flu like symptoms. The membranes had a almost rough texture on on the first day. There is no pain when I urinate. It is the 3rd day of symptoms and it is only now starting to itch and I have noticed a whitish discharge

In that case, it is very unlikely that you have caught herpes. Because if it is herpes, then you will be having all kinds of pain. malaise , and a very serious flu besides the unbearable urination pain. But you should still visit a GP and find out what it is.

I really do think this is just a yeast infection doll. Your symptoms are classic for one-redness, itching, White discharge. Try that Monistat 7  (for 7 days) and see if that helps. I really think it will. If you aren't having a fever, feeling of malaise, burning with urination, and unbearable pain, I really wouldn't suspect herpes.
