edit: my skin was healed in under two days. prior to this showing up on my vulva, i did take a 5-day antibiotic. the lesions/broken skin appeared on day 5. had discharge that resembled a yeast infection. can yeast cause broken skin/lesions like this?

Yes yeast infections can cause broken skin lesions like this. Hope all is well.

Not sure what the connection is to antibiotics. Even if it was an antibiotic allergy, it seems unusual for the allergic reaction to be a genital one. I'm not a pro though, don't know for sure. Did you ask your doctor or whoever prescribed antibiotics? The lesions look like ulcers, which are classic herpes symptoms (that coupled with the fact you have abnormal discharge). You need to see a doctor and get tested because these lesions are not normal, even if they go away or do not hurt. You'll be ok, go see a doctor soon.

thank you for your response. my doctor (also some articles online) stated that antibiotic use can trigger yeast infections (what i believe a had, a potential cause for those sores/broken skin on my vulva). im waiting on my next appointment to speak to my doctor. this morning i had my blood drawn to test for HSV igg antibodies (6 weeks after potential STI exposure). im waiting on the results. if the results come back questionable, ill have to try to get the Western Blot for a final confirmation by the 12week mark.

my results were 0.90 for both HSV1 and HSV2, meaning it was negative. good news, i guess. just worried and paranoid if theyre false negatives (considering the test i used, Herpeselect ELISA it is known for inaccuracy). but ill speak to my doctor in my upcoming appointment for additional testing in the future.

Hm, maybe you should wait a bit longer and re-do the blood test, or try the blot test (I've read it's the most accurate, and I believe tested by a prominent lab in WA). I'm not sure if 6 weeks is long enough. I'm also not sure yeast infections result in lesions like the above, those look very herpetic; but I'm not a doctor so it doesn't matter. The important thing is you went to a doc and take this seriously. I'd be worried about potential recurrences (if you aren't prescribed an antiviral) or unknowingly spreading it. Kudos to you for being very proactive/wise/brave about all this.

So I just did a quickie Google search: yeast infections can indeed cause sores, but they look different. But then again, these symptoms manifest so differently on everybody. Maybe it is yeast related, but I think follow up with another test just to be fully informed.
