Is this HSV or could it be something else?

Hi.. about a week ago the area between my vaginal opening and anus were extremely dry. One day it started to itch and I couldn't help but scratch with a tissue while on the toilet. That caused sores on my vagina that only burn when I pee. The itchiness was worse at night, but I used a yeast infection cream that helped. I haven't been sexually active since leaving a 2-year relationship. Last time I was active was in early March. I recently went to the OBGYN and she said she suspects it is herpes, but didn't know for sure because it could be a number of things. I have been depressed and scared since I left the doctors office. Can someone be honest and give their opinion? I was with the same guy for 2 years with nothing like this to ever happen. The only other symptom I have is abdominal pain. No swollen glands or "flu like" symptoms. image

It might be herpes but it doesn't look 100% like it. You could do a blood test to find out if it's herpes because the last time you had sex was more than 16 weeks ago.

It might also be some kind of bacterial infection or irritation.

Thank you. It has been almost 48 hours since I got swabbed. It hasn't been easy to relax. I pray that it isn't anything serious.

Got my results back and I am HSV2 negative! Apparently there is a form of vulvovaginitis that most OBGYNs tend to not diagnose, but I have a bacterial infection called Group A streptococcal vaginitis. It is a very unrecognized form of bacteria, but is very common in teens and adults. So to anyone who is scared and almost positive that they may have been diagnosed, please ask your doctors to dig deeper. Mine did without me asking because I've gone to her forever, but please check on your bodies!!!

Wow, you have an awesome doctor! That's such a great diagnosis. Most doctors don't even know what that is. Which state is your doctor in?
