Is this Lexapro withdrawal?

I was on Lexapro for a little over 5 weeks, I started on 10 mg while I was tapering off Paxil. Last week I was told to bump up to 15 mg of lex now that I’m off Paxil completely. This caused severe anxiety so I went back down to 10mg after six days on the 15mg. So my pdoc said that lex is prob not a good fit so she took me off that and put me on remeron. I took remeron for three nights and it caused anxiety so I’m now off this too! This past Thursday 3/8 was my last dose of the Lexapro. My pdoc said that I won’t have any withdrawals. I’m not so sure as I am feeling awful! A ton of anxiety, sweating so much, feeling very out of it and dizzy. I know I was only on it for a little over five weeks, can I still experience withdrawals? Thanks in advance!

I was on Paxil for 20 years and In November they took me off it and put me on Prozac, I had a horrible reaction to it, they took me off and then put me back on Paxil but at a very high dose, that sent my anxiety through the roof so they took me off that and put me on Lexapro, that didn’t work either, them they tried remeron, I took it for three days and it was awful, so now I decided to go off all of them. I feel anxious all of the time and I don’t know what to do!!

You need to see a psychiatrist. They are SO much better at prescribing appropriate meds. I too was trying to let my pdoc handle my meds & I was an anxious mess. Psychiatrists know these meds inside & out. Trust me, you’ll be glad you went!

My psychiatrist is the one that has been prescribing my meds since January. Each anti depressant that I have tried has made me feel worse, so after the last one I have decided to go off them and clean my system for a bit. I have been put on several different ones since November and it has been horrible on my body and mind. Time to take a break from them!

    Hi Kati,

I was on Paxil for 5 years. Got off of it for a year. Anxiety/panic returned so they put me on Prozac, I hated that drug, felt terrible! They switched me to Lexapro & I started at a very low dose (5mg). I slowly worked my way up to 20mg, increasing by 2.5mg every 2 weeks. My psychiatrist also put me on a Klonopin regimen to help with the anxiety from the dose increases. I take 0.5mg of Klonopin at night & 0.125mg in the morning. I’ve now been on the Lexapro 20mg for about a month. I will start to wean the Klonopin this week. I know exactly what you’re going through & its terrible. Take a break for a bit. Getting through anxiety with dose increases is more than half thof battle with these drugs. That’s why my Dr put me on the Klonopin to mask that. Best of Luck to you!
